Jerez, Spain – 2/28/2003
Luca Badoer had a bad for Ferrari, wrecking one of the new F2003-GA cars.

Ralf Schumacher belied concerns expressed by his Williams/BMW team about the lack of pace from its new FW25, breaking the Jerez lap record on the final day of pre-season testing at the Spanish circuit today. The German was working on tire testing and the evaluation of new aerodynamic components the team is planning to introduce in Melbourne—and evidently found something.

Kimi Raikkonen set the second-fastest time for McLaren, 0.326sec slower than Ralf. Luca Badoer was next up, but it was a dismal day for the Italian as he crashed Ferrari's new F2003-GA heavily after a suspected mechanical failure.
Cristiano da Matta set the fourth fastest time in the Toyota TF103, ahead of David Coulthard.

Badoer was unhurt in the crash that occurred at the Dry Sack right-hand hairpin, which has a high-speed approach, about halfway around the lap. The car reportedly skipped over the gravel trap and slammed into the tire wall, damaging the right-front corner of the car. The cause of the crash is believed to have been either wing or brake failure.

Jerez test times:

Not very long after ralf stating his intrests for the 2004 season with toyota, he drives the wheels off his bemer setting a lap record, how is that not progress over the offseason? Ralf you might want to reconsider.

Meanwhile, MS leands the keys to his new ferrari 2003 to his old pal Luca and says better not be a scratch or else. Seeing that Ralf can drive the wheels off his car, Luca acn't help himself and tries the same, but he could only manage to succeed with the right front.
