JGR and the Japanese.

Will JGR lose fans because of the switch to Toyota? I think that it will be a long season for that team. On the other hand, that is exactly what Toyota needed to get things going. Plus Kyle is a pretty good addition to that team. What do you guys think?

I still dont know what to think....

im sure they will loose fans, just Jr did when he said he was going to HMS

I'll tell ya I'm torn, I am a huge Stewart fan, but I am also a Chevy girl... I think it's a bad move for JGR, but a good deal for Toyota. Not yet decided who I will be pulling for next year.

maybe we can convert you to a Jeff Gordon fan. :)

NO WAY! LOL My daughter is a Gordon fan, have to keep the rivary here on the home front. :)

Kellogg, I agree WAY TOO MANY Gordon fans here already... :p

So what is all this hoopla about JGR suffering next season? All they are going to do is make subtle changes to the front and rear clip on their car of tomorrow bodies and dump in some Toyota engines. You think they are going to change chassis' and setups? Nope. In fact with Toyota's deep pockets they will have even more endless resources that they might have had limited reach of while in the Chevy camp. I expect them to contend for a championship next year with a majority of the remaining Toyota's within the top 25 (not 35) in points. Mark the tape.

Toyota has certainly found some more horses lately and its about time Chevy had some good competition. I'm sure all the cars at JGR will do well.......especially Kyle

If anything, JGR will now be the big fish in the little pond, as it were. See, at Chevrolet, it has always been Hendrick, RCR then JGR, in that order. Now, at Toyota, JGR will be first in the pecking order. Smart move on the Gibbs organization and they will do well.

Obviously, none of us really know how well JGR will do with Toyota. One thing for sure, if they do poorly you are going to see one upset driver in Tony.

I agree. If Tony don't run as good as he did in Chevy he will be on the war path.

I think you're already seeing JGR's influence on Toyota. They are running much better now and started running better right after the switch was announced.

I can say this, I do not like chevy anything.Period. And dodge is not far behind. Was born a Ford guy & will always be a ford guy. That being said, I lived nascar to watch only one driver...Mark Martin. I also could care less what he drives & still watch the races that he competes in & cheer for only him to win. If Tony goes to Toyota & you choose a new driver to follow, that is great, but then, you couldn't have been a huge stewart fan. Good luck in your quest.:D

My loyalties have always been to Pontiac. I have driven one of their cars from the time I started driving. Once they got out of NASCAR, then I had more loyality, except to root against anything Ford. :D

Me either. I am a diehard Jeff Gordon fan and I drive a Ford Explorer Sport Trac.

Ditto for me Tk. I follow the drivers. I don't care what they drive. I think there's just as many Toyotas made here in the U.S.A. as any "U.S." cars. So many of the parts are made and assembled in other countries. That's where all of the U.S. jobs are going, not only the auto industry. (grrrrrrrrrrrr....) I'm sick of calling my bank and getting routed to Bombay! It sucks.

When my husband & I met, we both were driving '77 Toyota Celica 5-speed GT Lift-backs. I had mine for 14 yrs. After we got married and moved in our house, the guy across the street worked for GM. I'm sure he totally hated us having those Toyotas! Then again back then, GM workers got such good benefits, he made more on disability than our other neighbor did driving the "drunk shift" as a deputy sheriff. We sold my husband's as the kids came along and bought a Chevy wagon. We've also had Dodges (minivans) and Fords. Right now we have a Dodge and a Ford, both with over 100K miles. Some of them have been crap, and some have been good. Some years of certain cars have been better than others. As good as our '77 Celicas were, my brother who had had a '76 bought one in the 80s and it was garbage. Our Chevy Celebrity... major piece of crap. It all depends.

So if I'm a fan of someone, I don't care what they're driving. I just want them to drive well and win. :)

Yes you do.... hehe :p
;)
Although I'm probably one of the few Gordon fans here who is also a Stewart fan. I do apologize that Tony must come 2nd to Jeff, though. heh heh :angel2: My good boy on one shoulder and my bad boy on the other. It's good to have one of each sometimes. B) :D

Kyle also, he won't take to running poorly very well that is for sure. Toyota has shown flashes of being more competitive in the last mont or so. I believe that they changed the engine Torque output about mid season, helped them get off the corners better with a little more giddy up. It takes time to develop a racing program, i think by mid season of 2008 Gibbs will be competitive. Out of the gate i think they will struggle, of course this is coming from some one that predicted MWR would get a win in 2007. I was pretty far off on that one....;). Gibbs on the other hand is a proven winner, so i think they will do ok maybe get one car in the Chase or close to it.
