Jim Thome was back in his old spot, batting cleanup as the DH for the Cleveland Indians where he had the best years of his career. He is way past his prime and he will not be enough to allow the Indians to overtake the Tigers and win the division. They just have too many injuries to key players and they just simply don't have enough offense to get it done. However, it was pretty cool to see him back in Cleveland and to see the hometown fans go crazy for him. He was a fan favorite who spurned the Indians for a lot more money from the Phillies in 2002 or so. A lot of fans really held that against him.

Thome hitting his 600th career home run a little while ago seems like it was probably enough to get him into the Hall Of Fame some day. Only 7 other guys have done that and at least three of them are widely believed to be steroid users. It only seems logical that he would go into the Hall as an Indian. Having a chance to make up with the Cleveland fans first seems like a very good thing.

i agree. can't see how he wouldn't go into the hof with 600 home runs. he wasn't tarnished by the steroid scandal like some candidates so that should go over good with the voters.

Didn't it used to be 500 homers was the standard to get in the hall of fame. Now with everyone who did roids its 600 I find it a bit ridicouls if anyone voted against Thome considering all the guys he is ahead in total home runs. Not to mention 10 years ago Aaron, Ruth, and Mayes where the only 3 guys in baseball history to have 600 homeruns. Now Bonds, Sosa, A-Rod, and Griffey all have over 600 but have major questions mark. Thome has never been linked to steroids so he should get in without any question.

Thome hit a home run and scored two runs to help the Indians win a one run game last night. The crowd went crazy when he hit his homer and they gave him another standing ovation, just as they did just about every time he came up to bat.
