Jim Tressell quit at Ohio State today

I'm not sure how I feel about that. I didn't want him to quit. He is a great coach and he has owned Michigan. His leaving should help the program avoid some of the wrath of the NCAA though.

Most of the stuff that they are under investigation for happen regularly at virtually every major division 1 football program. But they have to come down hard on tOSU to try to disguise some of the rampant corruption.

I'm certainly not trying to say he didn't make any mistakes. Obviously he made quite a few. I'm just saying that it's pretty hypocritical of the NCAA to try to act like this stuff is only happening at Ohio State.

The NCAA calling somebody else corrupt is a little too much like the pot calling the kettle black. The BCS cartel is a freaking joke. Most fans want a playoff, but that will never happen as long as this cartel is in power. They make way too much money just the way it is and if the fans and players are deprived of a playoff, who cares.

The NCAA and the schools, tv networks and just about everybody else makes a killing on college football, but the players who actually perform get not even a little pocket money. Then they act shocked when a player sells a jersey or something to get a little spending money. I'm not saying they should be getting paid a lot of money, but a couple hundred bucks a month to take a girl out for a pizza or put some gas in their car to get to all of these practices and workouts seems like it could eliminate a lot of problems.

Ha. I guess I shouldn't have taken so much time on my post. You beat me to posting. :p
maybe a mod can join the threads. :) i've always said college sports needs a major re-haul. ncaa division 1 schools are nothing less than semi-pro leagues and their sports programs should be treated accordingly, i.e pay the athletes and go easy on academic violations.
