Jimmie Johnson wants to speak to NASCAR officials in person Friday at Homestead-Miami Speedway in hopes of clearing up the issue of his penalty he received for “pulling up to pit” last Sunday at Phoenix.

“There’s been a lot of voicemails back and forth,” Johnson said Thursday about whether he’d talked to NASCAR about the issue. “They were traveling back on Monday. I was in New York on Tuesday, so I really haven’t had the chance.

“There have been voicemails and texts back-and-forth so I have a better understanding, but I still look forward to going to the (NASCAR) truck tomorrow and try to understand what would lead to that again.”

According to NASCAR rules, “Any vehicle illegally passing the caution vehicle or race leader will be black-flagged or repositioned at the discretion of NASCAR officials.” As for pulling up to pit: “When following the caution vehicle during a caution period, drivers must maintain their position in relation to other vehicles in the field or as otherwise directed by NASCAR, and will not be permitted to pasture vehicles or the caution vehicle when preparing to enter pit road.”

“I want to know how aggressive they are going to be in calling that, week after week and stop after stop,” he said. “Because what I think I got called on happened on some pit stops after my penalty.

“I just want consistency. That’s all I’m after.”

Good luck with that Jimmie.

Jimmie would have a better chance for Santa Claus to drop down to help in his pits than consistency from Nascar.Brian wants to have a hand in who wins his ballyhooed race.

A public announcement about his intention to discuss the matter with the sanctioning body shines a bright light on the issue.

Problem solved. Chimmie is a smart guy.

Nascar is going to tell him to SHADDUP AND EAT YOUR PEAS!!
JJ will come out and say the meeting went well and now he understands. He'll slowly walk off rubbing his butt.

Yes, Jimmie. Beat that drum. Meanwhile, back at Homestead.....

It is a preemptive strike. Every fan at the track and on TV will be watching to see if Nascar
pulls any stunts for this race. Jimmy will be given the benefit of the doubt on every call.

Benefit of the doubt? Won't surprise me if they give him a 2 lap head start!!

Maybe Jimmie could ask his question at the drivers meeting, then everyone will know what to expect.

the winner of the title needs to plan on also winning race. nascar wants this and IMO I think the top 4 cars will be cheated up a bit as well. we also see the other drivers in the field essentially moving over for the guys in the top 4 when they are moving up the field. Passing for them will not be near as hard as it is on a normal race. The reason I think jimmie is worried about this is because if your running up front especially in the lead, there are often lap cars between cars that are running up front. so when the field dives off to pit road everyone wants to be sucked up tight to the leader heading onto pit road. The first place guy would like it if they weren't able to move up so in some cases they can hold the lead despite having a 2 second slower stop. Or if your running in 2nd or 3rd you want to quickly get past the lap cars and suck up to the bumper of the leader. It is a ball and strike call in some cases when they move down the banking and onto pit road.
