Jimmy the gardener? I am having a tough time picturing that.

Sitting in a director’s chair at Greg Biffle’s hauler in the Darlington Raceway garage, Jimmy Spencer looked like a judge ready to hold court.

However, unlike Spencer, a judge wouldn’t be chewing on a big cigar.

Spencer, a former NASCAR driver and current television personality who goes by the nickname “Mr. Excitement,” has never backed down from speaking his mind. And at Darlington, he wasn’t about to change.

His subject wasn’t racing, religion, politics or anything of the sort. It was much more personal.
“I am going retire. That’s it. I am going to put my house up for sale and move back to Pennsylvania where I was raised,” said Spencer, who won twice in 478 Sprint Cup starts with such team owners as Bobby Allison, Junior Johnson and Travis Carter.

I did'nt know his dad had developed dementia, sorry to hear that.

All the best, Jimmy!

Hey, do you know Andy? Maybe you could recommend him to be your replacement!

Jimmy loves to garden. I saw a video of him in his garden full of roses. He has 2 green thumbs.
All the best to him, and to his dad.
I remember a piece they did on him a fews years back at his home as well. He's an avid gardener to say the least.

He never says when he will retire. Spencers star is on the rise as a TV personality. I hate to be cynical, but I wonder what amount of money could get him to change his mind?

I saw that piece too. Jimmy is nicer off the air than on the air . There aren't too many guys left with his honesty . You can't put a Jimmy Johnson or a Jeff Gordon in that seat and get a frank opinion. I can't think of anyone left in Nascar who isn't afraid of stepping on toes.
