Just days after the 50th anniversary of his sole F1 win, Jochen Mass has died from complications of a stroke at the age of 78.
He competed in 105 GPs for Surtees, McLaren, ATS, Arrows and RAM and would later go on to work as a TV analyst in the 90s.
Mass also won the 1988 Le Mans 24 driving for Sauber.
While his sole win came under tragic circumstances, it was the only F1 win for a German driver between 1961 and 1992.
