Johali's Rate the Race --- Charlotte

All race cars are "aero dependent". It doesnt matter what year or what brand.
Correct, but they have become "too" aero dependent per the original statement. There will always be aero dependency but NASCAR used to be more focused on mechanical grip.

Pre COT would be the gen 4 car commonly called the twisted sister, the most aero dependent car they have ever had, breathe on a fender an it would bend. But don't take my word for it

But Gen 4 cars were as aerodynamically sensitive as any prototype sports car ever fielded at Le Mans. One little bump on a fender and a driver's day was done. Earnhardt used to say that if he could clone himself and race against himself in an old Monte Carlo from the 1970s versus a new Monte Carlo, he'd win in the old one every time. He would beat on the new one and "rough it up" until it became aerodynamically dysfunctional, while the tougher old one motored on.

since there are no fans at the tracks anyway, nascar should build all new tracks on the moon, as the aero dependency problem would be gone, just to add 15k lbs more balllast due to lower gravity.

The Lunar Racing Association has agreed to abide by the interplanetary restrictions declared by the Lunar Emergency Pandemic Authority. Travel between Earth and Luna is currently prohibited except for current Lunar citizens, who are required to self-quarantine for two weeks. In a space suit. On the surface.

Still, Robby Gordon could probably organize a pretty good truck endurance race under those conditions, so who knows?

Thats because we didnt know much about aerodynamics at the time, but we know back in the 70's 80's and 90's that the leader was always tough to pass, just like today. It may have something to do with hes just faster. Call me crazy

Way too much Aero grav. I wish they raced like the Gen 6 car..Nascar has been downhill since then.
