Making a pass was quite difficult throughout the race.

Darlington *always* delivers a supreme contest of skill, and this was no exception. This race had everything I crave in a sporting contest.

I've been saying for years that Darlington and Homestead tie for the best racing among all 1.5er's, and Darlington has the added benefit of 70+ years of history and tradition, making the Southern 500 the Holy Grail of Nascar racing. As great as the Daytona 500, the World 600, and the Brickyard 400 (hoping it returns) are in stature and prestige, the Southern 500 is first among the crown jewels, IMO.

Bravo to 'That Jones Boy' for claiming his second Southern 500... what a sterling accomplishment... and bravo to Petty-GMS for claiming a win in their first year of existence for this reformulated team.
