Johanna Long Interview: Please Don't Compare Me To Danica Patrick

Pretty good interview. I became a fan of hers at that Snowball Derby when she won it. The Snowball is the Daytona of Late Model racing and is a big accomplishment for any driver IMO. I think a lot of people here on the broadcasts she won it and think big deal, she won the Snowball but it's a big deal and the best of the best show up for it.

I have watched her race since she was a little girl about knee high and have been impressed with her since the first race I saw her in. I watched her win the Snowball and was thrilled for her, and all of the locals wish her the best and pull for her because we know she is a helluva racer. She is also a damn fine young woman with her head screwed on straight.

Classy girl, talented driver and, IMO, more attractive than Danica.

Though I would love to see Danica win (despite her prissy attitude), I'd rather see Johanna Long break the barrier first.

She needs to find a way to attract some sponsors or she won't last the year.

I would love to see Johanna Long get a win. I'd love to see any female driver that I actually like get a win before Danica in NASCAR. Thankfully, Danica doesn't have the talent to make history in NASCAR so it will happen at some point.

There's the SHGR we all know and love ;)

What a bunch of Danica haters - Today.

I'll check in tomorrow to see which way the winds blowing ;)

You do realize she is getting into Tony's ride when he retires in 2013.

I really love it when guys come on here championing Timmy Hill, Johanna Long and the like . These are great young drivers who , along with hundreds of other great young drivers will never get the big break that they deserve in todays economy .Reality is that the faces of the future Nascar stars are clearly Travis Pastrana and Danica Patrick . Yes they have a lot to learn , but they already have a huge fan base and tons of sponsorship. You can teach them to drive a race car , but you can't give them what these two already have.

Move over Jimmie! Here comes Danica and Travis:D Has Timmy Hill ever won anything outside a go-kart or legends car? It's called "Buy a ride"

I don't think so. Guys like Kyle, Brad, Stenhouse, Joey, Trevor, Almirola, etc are the future of the 'sport'. NASCAR has always had fan favorites that weren't near the top talent wise.

You mean like _ _ _ _ _ _ ?

Good Interview but I don't understand where the quote " Please don"t compare me to Danica Patrick " came from. I did not see it anywhere in the interview !

I think someone can be taught to be a fair to good driver. But I think to dominate you have to be born with some natural talent.

I think Danica's maximum potential is just to be a good driver, and all of the money in the world will not change matters. In a few words she is just to timid and cautious, and a Cup win is almost guaranteed to never happen. Someday women will win and Danica will justly be credited for getting the public prepared or comfortable with the idea.

I am not sure about Pastrana it is way to early to say, but he will push the envelope. If I was going to bet on either one getting cup wins, I would bet on him in spite of not having a ride.

Me neither. It's called taking statements "out of context". Johanna Long was asked what questions she was tired of answering and she replied, "comparisons to Danica Patrick".
But, whatever. I'm sure the attention grabbing headline got a lot of reads, as intended.
