Who is Johanna Long? She's in the #25 car for Venturinni, entry list says she's from Pensacola. I've never seen Venturinni take a risk on an unknown driver like this before.

The only risk is if the check does not clear the bank. Apparently it cleared and the kid went racing.

Asked one of the guys at Langley the other night. Apparently Johana's a big racer down in Florida. She won several races at Five Flags Speedway down in the Redneck Riviera and won the Blizzard Series championship or something like that.

Anyways, she wrecked at Iowa. I didn't see the race so I don't know what happened, but I heard someone else wrecked her.

Toledo, Camp65, were either of you there?

I was there.... great crowd. The RV parking along the back stretch looked like it was full. Many fans in the stands a good hour or two before anything was going on down on the track.

so I assme this was the case with the wreck or did you miss it?

i only caught bits and pieces of the race since I was at Langley.

Not much on the way of wrecks from what I saw. Actually no yellow flag until around lap 50. The 77 had them covered most of the way. If this keeps up Eddie Sharp will jump out of the spotters stand.... at leat I hope!

Tom Hessert wrecked early in practice and went too a backup. I felt bad for him considering it was the 1st start with Robby Benton. This leads me into the gripe of the race with ARCA. Dillon was allowed too start a backup after qualifying. He spun on the first lap. Some minor nose damage and he finished the two lap run. The car was far from being unrepairable but with being a RCR entry ARCA looked the other way. In the past I have seen ARCA make a team repair a car and did not allow them too use the backup car. Had this happend to any also ran you can bet they would have made them fix it.

Another interesting thing this weekend was the performance of the Sheltra team. They tested there two weeks ago and according to the Sheltra spin doctor "hit the jackpot" on a race setup. Well they where a full second off in practice. It looked like they changed the engine Saturday before qualifying and agian where for the most part a second off the pace. Follow this up with a 14th place finish and a lap down and you wonder what is the problem here. This team seems too be seriously struggling right now. There is some talent there...at least more than enough too make a good showing in ARCA. Stay tuned and watch this play out. I could see some changes if they do not get the ship turned around. Of course I am not a fan of this bunch but I really thought they would be a contender earlier this season.

The biggest surprise and it came from a reliable source on the team involved says that the driver is all but done for the year... if not for good. A very embarrasing situation too say the least and I will not disclose in a public forum. Some of you will be shocked big time when it is made public.

BTW, I don't know if y'all have heard or not but CK's been in and out of the hospital and isn't in good health right now.

Is it Gabi DiCarlo? Because I've noticed they've had a bunch of other drivers in the #90 truck lately. And her performance isn't where it should be... I think she'd be better suited to run the USAR Pro Cup Series instead of ARCA or NASCAR.

I did see Chris at Iowa... I hope he is OK. I dont want too see anything bad happen to anybody includung him. He has a bright future in this sport. I just do not agree with some of his spin.

BTW, Andy as you know I may not agree with everything you say either but you seem pretty well versed in the business. Perhaps you will get the right situation as CK did and do what he has done. I see no reason why you cant.

Johanna is 16 and runs down here on the Gulf Coast, Andy. She runs Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola where I believe she's defending champ in Pro Late Models and she also runs here at Mobile International where she has a few wins. Currently she's second in Super Late Model Points at Five Flags. Her cars seen to be prety well funded and prepared and she has the makings of a good little driver.

I've watched her run a few times and she's steady and easy on equipment. I don't know how Venturinni came into the picture. She wasn't at Mobile last Saturday night but I'll find out the next time she's here or the next time I drive over to P'cola.
