Odd Andretti Comment: John Andretti flipped idly through a newspaper, not really wanting to talk about his cousin Michael's decision to appoint Robby Gordon as substitute driver in Andretti Green's #27 cars for this year's Indianapolis 500. Andretti, son of Aldo Andretti (Mario's twin brother) and cousin of team owner/driver Michael Andretti, who will retire from driving after the 400, expressed off-the-record bitterness toward his cousin's choice. "I'll be there that Wednesday, and I'll qualify the car, because [Gordon] will be in the hospital by then," John Andretti said. Completely classless by John Andretti to say a comment like that. "I'll be there that Wednesday, and I'll qualify the car, because [Gordon] will be in the hospital by then," First of all, Michael Andretti went with the better driver for the job, and I respect that. John has to learn that winning is more important, Michael does not have an obligation to put his cousin in the car, Michael wants to win, so he puts a winning driver in the car. Also, John has to be very very careful around Robby since Nascar could look at any incident between both of them as a premeditated event by John.
Knowing the risks and dangers of the sport, why would any driver want to wish harm of another driver for the own selfish gratitude, completely ridiculous.
