John Hunter Nemechek won the All American 400 this past weekend, one of the premier late model events in the country. I've been very impressed so far with his time in the trucks and late models, what're you guys' thoughts on him. I like he has a lot of potential
 
I haven't watched him that long, but what I have seen, he is another driver who was born into the sport and has more experience than his young age indicates. There are quite a few second and third generation youngsters trying to make it to the cup series. Young Nemo is going to make it to cup I believe.
 
It depends, does he get a ride not owned by his dad because your not going to succeed in that equipment.

Hated that I couldn't go out to the AA 400 this year. Got to see Chase Elliott come from the back to win it last year though.
 
Glad to know he won the 400, I remember watching his dad running in the All American series in the 80s.

I think he has some good skills and there is a lot he can learn from his dad.
But he doesn't have one of the elite names, and he will have to turn a lot of heads to make it into sprint cup.
I would say his chances are less than 50/50.

I was at Homestead and saw Johns Uncle loose his life in turn one in a truck race. He could not have hit worse than he did, full drivers side flat against the wall front to back. With the track configuration and retaining wall angles at the time, this allowed his helmet, even with the drivers net, to hit the wall on impact, sad day.
In Homesteads original configuration it was a hell hole for spinning on entry or exit and cars or trucks would hit full side on the wall or back straight into it. What you see today is the third and final configuration of the track

As for John Nemechek's fatal wreck, I remember that well. I'm glad it's a lot safer place to race now.
