"Johnny Benson could become a second driver for Cal Wells, as teammate with Ricky Craven, depending on how sponsorship works out. Wells and Craven haven't had great luck this season and Sunday, Craven's engine broke just seven laps into the race."


Personally, I don't think it would behoove JB to make the move.
 
Kat, I believe that was a rumor milling about before the season even started. I believe that if Wells can secure sponsorship for a second car, he will put JB in as the driver. ;)
 
I would like to see jb back in nascar, but I would like to see him in a better ride then what this promises to be.
 
Johnny deserves a good ride. I think he would be a perfect fit at Penske South... would blend in quite nicely with Ryan and Rusty. Wouldn't it be cool to see Rusty back in the MGD colors, while JB takes the Miller Lite colors?
 
I would not mind seeing JB back in cup full time, but next year! If he could get the 2nd Wells car I hope the team would improve, because right now the team sounds like it might be another MBV/2 team for JB.

I hope JB can prove himself in the NBS and a better ride comes JBs way like in another car for DEI, Evernham or Gibbs
 
It would be nice to see Johnny back in cup if it's true. I've always liked him but he's too nice of a race car driver. He needs to be a little aggressive at times.
 
Really no easy answer to the question whether Johnny is better off in Cup, Busch or Trucks. However, this could be the final oppurtunity he's probably getting to get back into Cup, Cal Wells doesnt seem to be getting any factory support if any from Chevy, maybe becoming a two car team should help them. Things don't seem to be running smooth at Cal Wells right now.

If the deal does fall through, I wonder who the crew chief will be.
