Dang, time to buy a new shirt! And just when I've completed my AMP wardrobe.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. will carry Diet Mountain Dew colors next year as Hendrick team shifts from Amp Energy sponsorship
Four years after making waves in NASCAR by signing on as the primary sponsor of Dale Earnhardt Jr., Amp Energy is phasing its brand off the car of the sport’s most popular driver.

PepsiCo is expected to announce this week that Diet Mountain Dew will replace its Amp Energy brand as Earnhardt Jr.’s primary sponsor for 16 races in 2012. The company has the primary sponsorship rights for 20 total races on the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports car, and Amp will serve as an associate sponsor while also appearing on the hood for the other four races.

Full story here.

Good for Jr, we already know what the paintjob is going to look like cause he's already been running it, great looking car. Although I was never a fan of Jaws, I always loved the Mountain Dew car from 81-82. For those other races, National Guard should split time with Krispy Kreme, Carrowinds, & DC Comics...

I always loved the Dew car from the 80s --- just good-looking.

I agree. Those Regals were the best looking cars of all time in NASCAR.

doesn't it seem like FOREVER ago that Jr. drove the number 8? Or maybe it is just me....

It does seem like a long time ago in some ways...

Don't y'all still hate the Wicked Step-Mother for not letting him have the number? What a tool!

Did'nt we have a discussion not long ago the the number belongs to NASCAR not the Teams/Drivers? Hmmmmmm

While that is true, a team can relinquish the number and another team can claim it. Or, a team can hold on to the number, if they keep it an active number.

When Sterling Marlin drove the 4 to Victory at Daytona (twice), he drove for Morgan-McClure. They wanted to hold onto the number. (Didn't Tony Stewart want that number for his car?) But now it's on Kasey's Red Bull Toyota. Maybe their time ran out?

Sooner or later the 8 will again be available in CUP, I would think.

• Generally, if a team has used a number, that number is re-issued to the same team. If a team relinquishes a number, it reverts back to NASCAR

She hung on to it to just be a ***** or thinking it could still make her money I'm sure.

Thanks for the link robbybee

No Red Bull just got the 4 this season SHR has been around since 2009. Red Bull started at the 83 and 84 switched to the 82 and 83 for some reason and then switched the 82 to the 4 when Kahne came on board. Morgan McClure was still trying to race when Tony started the team, but now when was the last time they showed up?

Your right, I forgot about that they had the boy in the car a few times trying to make some Cup races.
