Earnhardt gives $1M to children's camp

RANDLEMAN, N.C. -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. has donated $1 million to the Victory Junction camp for children with serious illnesses.

The donation will be used to build The Dale Jr. Corral and Amphitheater at the camp that honors the late Adam Petty. Earnhardt made it to kick off Victory Junction's "Keeping the Dream Alive" campaign.

Petty was killed in 2000 during a practice session at New Hampshire International Speedway. He had a passion for trying to help seriously ill children, and his parents started the camp in his memory.

Earnhardt says the donation was in memory of "my buddy, Adam Petty," whom he called genuine and a great friend.

It should be mentioned that Kelly is a big part of everything that Jr does, and whether her hand is in this or not, she deserves an atta-girl too.

I do believe most, if not all race teams give money to charity. Good for Jr and ALL the other driver that give money to charity

Tony Stewart and I believe Kurt Busch have also donated one million each to the camp. Now if about 30 more of these very wealthy drivers would do the same that would be great.

Both Jr and Kelley are good people and do much to help various organizations in need.

Lets not forget Jeff Gordon, also, who does much for different charities.
