JR Motorsports will expand into the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for 10 races in 2015 with driver Cole Custer, general manager Kelley Earnhardt Miller announced today. Custer, who turns 17 this month, became the youngest winner in NASCAR national touring series history last year with a truck series victory in only his seventh start. He and the No. 00 Chevrolet Silverado team will receive primary sponsorship from Haas Automation Inc., the largest CNC machine tool builder in North America.

Wow, very nice! I wonder how much control Earnhardt Jr. has over JR Motorsports, or is it all being handled by Kelley Earnhardt?

Anyone on here that professes knowledge on that subject is doing nothing more than blowing smoke out their a$$.

Well, it's still nice to see a development team expanding. :) I got to hand it to The Earnhardts, they really do care about the sport and are always trying to do their part to get more people involved and get new talent into a seat.

For that, Earnhardt Jr. has my respect. :beerbang:

Gotta love that name, I may have found my new #1 driver. I wonder if he's related to the General????????? Circle the wagons boys it going to be a rough day!!!!!! Damn that's right, we ain't got no wagons.

Well, here's hoping he doesn't make a last stand. The last Custer that did that, it did not end well for him. :p

this is an interesting move. JRM does not do anything they feel would be unprofitable for the company. They are also careful about relying on jr to make up the difference with his name. They run a tight ship over there, things have to stand on their own. I have always kinda admired that about them. I was frankly puzzled by the move when I read about it here. It appears they want to get cole approved to run all tracks in the higher up series and view the truck series as a way of doing that. It looks like they also plan on cole moving up to nationwide. The statement about it being performance based on cole's part indicates to me that they are only willing to go so far with out of pocket money. maybe a successful truck run could give them the ability coupled with some inside connections on the part of joe custer the ability to finance a full NXS ride at some point.

Interesting , Joe Custer , Vice President Stewart Haas Racing . Obvious , he took this deal to Kelley , and why not ? JRM has been putting great equipment on track .

Honestly, when it comes to the rule for Truck Series drivers being allowed to race before 18, I think you should have to keep going to regular school in order to be allowed to race. And if you've finished, you should be allowed to race full-time.

Representing Ladera Ranch, CA. Looking for big things out of this kid. Good for him.

Haas full boated him last year for a partial 9 race season. He did great. Glad they found him a full schedule ride, I think he will give us some thrills next year. Another one who they might make a place for in the higher series.

It's only for 10 races, not the full schedule.
