JR Motorsports trio fined for post-race altercation
By Official Release

type size: + -DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR on Wednesday announced that Tony Eury Sr., crew chief for the No. 88 Chevrolet driven by Brad Keselowski, has been fined and placed on probation as have two JR Motorsports team members who were involved in a post-race altercation in the pit road impound area following the Nationwide Series race on May 24 at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

• Eury Sr. was fined $1,000 and placed on probation until June 25 for violating Sections 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 9-4A (the crew chief assumes responsibility for the actions of his or her driver, car owner and team members) of the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rule Book.

• JR Motorsports crew member Michael Sandlin will serve a one-race suspension from the Nationwide Series and is suspended from NASCAR until June 4. He has been placed on probation until Oct. 15 and also has been fined $1,500 for violating Section 12-4-A. Sandlin failed to follow a directive from a NASCAR official and had inappropriate contact with a NASCAR official during the post-race altercation.

• Jordan Allen, another JR Motorsports crew member, also has been placed on probation until Oct. 15 and fined $1,500 for being in violation of Section 12-4-A. Allen also failed to follow a directive from a NASCAR official and had inappropriate contact with a NASCAR official during the post-race altercation.

But nothing for the on track incident. The 20, 88 and 83 should have been fined as well. Actually, when the 88 hit the 20 from behind and then was stupid enough to pull along side he should have been sent to the back of the line for starting the problem. Then the 20 should have been sent back for retaliation as well as the 83.

Total BS

Total :bsflag:

So, it's alright for Kyle and Denny to go wrecking every car that passes them, but it's not okay for teams that will have to repair the damages caused by the Kyles and Denny to be mad about it? :idunno:

I thought NASCAR wasn't going to fine teams and drivers for off-track altercations. Apparently, it's okay for the Busch Brothers and Denny to wreck other peoples' racecars intentionally but it's not okay for anyone to react.

Don't forget Brad hit Denny 1st under caution. Then pulled along side to run his mouth. If Brad had acted like he had good sense and not hit Denny and especially pull along side he couldn't have been hit. Now when Lil'E ran into Denny that too was premeditation so you can't call for Denny to be punished unless you punish the one that started it and the one that ran in afterwards...

Kyle and Denny did not disobey or have inappropriate contact with a NASCAR Official.

I thought both teams would be penalized. Hmmmm.. Brad may have started it, but Denny said he retaliated right on air, plus his crew was down in the mix with the officals, too.

Too bad, it was one of the better parts of the race. LOL

looked like another saturday night of racing at any track across the country to me. officials were dumb enough to get in the middle in the first place. That big of a mob you just let them sort it out themselves.

Where's this racing take place at?

Our drivers and crews don't get into brawls at the local tracks.

So did I.

Looks like retaliating over something and wrecking a dude under caution is acceptable. ;) Like I said, the Rock & Roll 400 at "The Action Track" in September is going to be pretty exciting. :D

Why dont you whatch tony at a "local track"
None of the big names come to our local track. You've probably never heard of it, it's called "Potomac Speedway."

The garages are wooden barns. The "control tower" is also a wooden barn, and the PA system is still stuck back in the 1970s.

:XXROFL:

The racing is good, and that's all that counts though. That said, the prices are too high and it's not a good track for new age reporters like me.

The big names do come to the races we hold at the dragstrip. Maryland International Raceway's a very nice, very modern track. It's not a megaplex like ZMAX, Vegas or Thunder Valley, but it is still a really nice track. The racing at MIR is the best you can ask for. If you ever come to DC, you've got to make a stop at MIR. The jet car showdown is the most breathtaking racing you will see anywhere.

Yeah, I always get a kick out of hockey where the officials just stand back for a bit and let them pound on each other before they try to get them under control. LOL :D
