Cross Hendrick Motorsports off the list of teams interested in signing Dale Earnhardt Jr. Although he's spoken to Earnhardt, car owner Rick Hendrick said Saturday "there's no room at the inn" for NASCAR's most popular driver. Earnhardt is leaving Dale Earnhardt Inc. (DEI) at the end of the season. He wants to stay with one of the top Chevrolet teams so he can contend for championships, and Hendrick is the best in NASCAR right now with eight wins in the past nine Nextel Cup races. Richard Childress Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing are the next best Chevy teams, and both owners have indicated they are interested in speaking with Earnhardt. Only Hendrick had been silent on the issue, but as he walked toward pit road before Saturday night's Nextel All-Star Challenge, he said he was maxed out with four drivers right now and couldn't fit Earnhardt in his stable. "We're good friends and I've talked to him, because I really want him to make the best decision and do the best thing for himself," Hendrick told The Associated Press. "But right now, I'm full." Hendrick fields Cup cars for four-time series champion #24-Jeff Gordon, defending Cup champion #48-Jimmie Johnson, #5-Kyle Busch and #25-Casey Mears. All are under contract through at least 2008, and Hendrick is currently trying to extend Busch's deal. Hendrick said he's offered to help Earnhardt if he elects to field his own Cup team.(Associated Press)(5-20-2007)

I'd have thought he'd have sent Mears packing - goes to show how much I know

I keep thinking that Ginn will be the place for Jr. They have shown that they are strong and with Hendrick motors, they are a force to reckon with. It would be like his father who went with an upstart team in RCR. Jr. could very well be the man that everyone thinks about in the future when talking about Ginn Racing. And though Joe Nemechek and Sterling Marlin are journeyman drivers, neither one of them has set the world on fire either as fan favorites or winning championships. Sterling did have one year in which he was really strong, but because of an accident, he wasn't able to take the title. Not saying that Jr would do either of those things in a Ginn car, but saying that IF that did happen, it would be very reminicent of his father. Hendrick, Gibbs and Childress all have multiple championships under their belts.

Hendrick seemed quite animated while talking to Gustafson after Kyle's little venture into the side door of his big brother's car.
I wonder if the bloom is off the rose between Hendrick and Kyle.

Yeah, I also noticed that. Hendrick seemed to be quite upset.

One thing guaranteed is, Rick Hendrick will get Kyle Busch squared away.
And soon. HMS is not interested in continuously repairing banged up Kellogg's cars because of an impatient driver.

Rick hendrick has a way with people and of making a point without going public or making the person in the discussion feel embarrassed.
So you can take this to the bank.
Kyle Busch will settle down. It will take several more races but Kyle will settle in before the end of the year.

When (note I said when, and not if ) this happens, Kyle busch is going to be the guy to beat. Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick, Juan Montoya (it is all a matter of time with this klutz as well) should take note.:)

I agree. The kid is extremely talented. Hendrick knows this. When they get him reined in he's going to be a rocket.

Buck, I agree, Ginn should be the team of choice. I know RCR is the sentimental favorite but what happens if it doesn't work. There's an awful lot of egos there and also at Gibbs. At Ginn Lil'E could be "the man" that everything else was built around. No comparisons and no pressures.

Ginn is too new to the sport for a proven driver/personality like Dale to mess with. Yes, Ginn has shown they are a top calibre team willing to put the effort in the sport, today. But will the interest and dedication remain after three or four years ???

Egos ??? junior doesn't seem to have one and if he does it is kept under wraps. Were he to go with RCR, JGR or HMS, the egos that will need stroking are the ones currently sitting in the ego seat.
DAMN !!! Never thought I would say something positive about Earnhardt !!!!

So here is my take. Dale will go with RCR for a couple of reasons.
RCR is a proven commodity. They have been around a long time, have shown they can produce and are willing to make changes to suit the driver and teams.
Dale wants a championship more than he wants mega-bucks or first billing on the playbill. Childress will go out of his way to help Dale in this goal.

Richard Childress, like Junior Johnson, will reach a point in his life when he has had enough. At that point, Dale and his family might be first in line to buy RCR.

Although, Saturday evening, Rick Hendrick said he has no room for Dale at this time, who knows if arranements will not be made in the very near future (meantime talks continue) to move somone around, or out.
I really do not see a big future or long list of wins for Casey Mears with any team.

I see Dale with RCR and it has nothing to do with RCR/Dale,Sr. relationaship.

Dale is his own person planning his future in his way.
RCR is a stepping stone toward fulfilling that goal.

RCR is the logical fit has been right along, i look to after the July Daytona race and RCR will announce signing JR.

Sound logic Whiz, but we'll see where he goes probably sooner rather than later. One thing I see is that if Jr were to gain that #25 seat, his carreer would go down the drain in a hurry. Not since Tim Richmond sat in that car has there been a winning driver. A win here and there, and what? That car is haunted by the memory of Tim.

Man, talk about egos on thos teams, where do you start?

So you're saying he wouldn't win in the 25. Then by all means that's where he needs to go. Is there anything we as fans can do to make that happen... :)
