That's a nice trailer. I wish we had a spread axle.

I'm afraid so Magnethead. Maybe I will see you at the Ennis race this year.
Maybe so. IF we run bracket finals (they're quarter mile this year) we'll probably be shutting off at the 1/8 mile and coasting. 4.88 gears just can't make it a quarter mile for one race.

We did it at crandall once for a race, and still went 9.60 at 85 mph through the 1/4 traps.

Your truck looks really good to me Nitro Dude, wish I had a car and hauler at all. Oh wait I do, only they're all 1/24 scale...

each division is different. Division 4 (tx, ok, ark, LA, and NM) switch back and forth every year. Most people just change convertors for the quarter races, but we're already as tight as we can go with the 4.88 gears. Turning 7400 through the 1/8 mile lights shifting at 1.7 seconds, we don't want to know what they'd be in the 1/4, probably 8500 or so...on a 4.25 stroke.

That 9.60 was back when we ran ~5.90 in the 1/8. Our best this year was 5.55 @ 122.5, I wanna go 5.48 @ 125 out of the box in 4 weeks. We'd easily be 9.20's shutting off at the 1/8. Not bad for a 2850 pound car, eh?

Well that's a start.:) This one has been real good to us, and it pulls really nice. I'm sure glad it is a 53' so we didn't have to have 3' cut off the back like a bunch of the other Nhra teams had to do over the winter.

How's the spread axle effect things? just help the weight distribution a little?

Robbybee is correct. A spread does eat tires. But with the spread the DOT will let us haul 20,000 pounds per axle and we are always close to being over weight on the rear axles. I use to haul our golf cart but it would always put me over on the rear axles about 400 to 800 pounds, and then I would have to move blowers, crank shafts, or clutch floaters up in to the lounge. That was a pain in the azz, so now we just pay the golf cart company that furnishes the golf carts to all the Nhra events, a fee to haul our cart to all the races. Also the new Featherlite trailers has a couple more inches up stairs and you can haul a funny car with the wing on. We have to de-wing 2 bodies and haul the wings down stairs for every race. So a new featherlite spread would come in handy for us. But I have pulled this trailer for 8 years and other then normal maintenance it has been trouble free. Featherlite makes an awesome trailer but they can cost around $400.000.

Amazing how something that simple would put you over that much. I always thought the GC's were way up in the front of the trailers anyways.

I still don't understand what the extra 3 whopping feet is about.

We haul 2 cars upstairs, so there is not enough room for the golf cart. That is where that extra 3 feet would be handy. Down stairs the machine shop and the computer is up front and then there are all the parts cabinets and work benches down both sides. I can haul the pit scooters up front, but the wings, and the golf cart has to go in the back. California will not let any 56' trailers in their state anymore. If they catch any 56' trailers in their state then the team has to have them hauled out on a lowboy trailer. They caught one top fuel dragster team on the way to the World Finals last year and made them haul it back out of the state on a lowboy trailer. Nhra had a meeting with Caltrans on that Saturday and Caltans told Nhra that they would let the teams leave the track after the race if they went straight out of the state, but do not return to California until the trailers were shortened. Trailer manufactures have been pretty busy this winter to say the least.
