The JTG Daugherty Racing/Richard Childress Racing technical alliance is official.

JTGDR officials announced on Monday that the No. 47 team will switch to Chevrolets next season as AJ Allmendinger takes over the seat full-time. The relationship will also include Earnhardt Childress Racing Engines as well as engineering support for 2014.

Hopefully Dinger will have more speed in 2014, the 47 toyo was slow.

why is still Earnhardt Childress racing engines, when the Earnhardt part don't use them anymore?

I like it, the first TV booth talking head to break his Toyota Contract, I wish the rest would give it a break, especially the Venturini's so Wendy would give it a rest and also Rusty, DJ and DW, it would be nice for a change.

I wish AJ well and think this may be the break he needs.

Two Toyotas gone this year between the 47 and the 56. Hopefully they don't go the way of Dodge.

I thought Gnassi was still using the engines as well over at Earnhardt Gnassi Racing?

Bobby Labonte said he'd be willing to run either the Busch or Truck Series if the right offer came along, I know he's old but maybe a deal would re-juvenate him...

Definitely a big step in the right direction. They should have done this three years ago. It's a shame Labonte didn't get a chance to drive for them with RCR equipment.

I don't think the Earnhardt part does anything anymore. When's the last time Teresa Earnhardt's name came up in anything? Last time I saw her was at some panel on CSPAN after Dan Wheldon was killed in IndyCar talking about the dangers of auto racing. I think she got the hint and cashed out.

Im kinda behind on this one but I hope this brings JTG Daugherty up a little more in terms of competition. I know RCR isn't the best shop compared to some others but they are able to run well... When teams do this do they give each other info on chassis setups or help with that at all.. or is it purely a buyer/seller relationship? I know that Roush and Penske have been working closely together. Anyone know the situation in this case?

As a Bobby fan I want him to go to Trucks and win the championship. Be the first with a championship in all three series. However once he goes to Trucks that is it, probably no more Cup rides for him. Which may already be the case.

Depends on the deal they sign. Some sign an alliance deal which offers up more than just parts and pieces. Furniture Row has an alliance with RCR. Not only do they get all the same equipment that RCR has, but they sit in on all RCR meetings, have access to all of RCR's data, get all the support from RCR engineers. Busch said that this past year that the Furniture Row team was basically the 4th RCR car. He even called the RCR drivers his teammates a couple of times. Then you have some teams that just buy the equipment from the supplier teams.

I hope the former.. Id like to see those guys do better.. I like Brad Daugherty too (as an announcer anyway) he's funny.

That's a pretty smart idea. He should've done that like 5 years ago. He could easily win a Truck championship with the right team.
