July 30, 1966: Country music legend Marty Robbins runs his first Grand National race. An oil leak ends his day after 48 of the 400 laps of the Nashville 400. Robbins finishes 25th in the field of 28 and wins $100. Also notable about the race: The winner, Richard Petty, leads all 200 miles, winning by five laps over Buck Baker. Only 10 cars are running at the end of the race, including Wendell Scott, who finishes ninth. James Hylton, who in February 2007 attempts to qualify for the Daytona 500 at the age of 72, finishes 10th, 48 laps back.
