Whilst most of you will be either at the track or glued to your TV set watching today's race, I won't be, sorry to say. Oh yeah, I'll be taping it, but while the race is being run, I'll be at the track...not Kansas, but rather at Lowe's Motor Speedway. What for you ask? I'll be riding in one of those hot rods in the Richard Petty's Ride Along Program. We are getting ready to head out and should reach the track well before noon. My brother-in-law will also be getting a ride and then we're going to have lunch afterwards.

There are those brave hearts who would much rather do the Drive Along thing, but that cost much more money, and besides, they don't allow you to get up to the speeds that the pros are able to take those of us who want to just ride along. I've really never been one who has wanted to race, but I'm a fanatic about riding in something that has great acceleration that can throw you back into the seat. This will surely give me that thrill along with so many other thrills. So just remember while you are watching the race today, I'll be screaming my head off heading off into turn one! :bounce:

Lucky you. With my back I wou;dn't be able to get in the car.

Oh Buckster, I'm SOOO JEALOUS! Will Red be riding too?
Here's wishing you a wonderful, safe time! :beerbang: :beerbang:

Even though Kahne had that lousy finish, my finish was terrific. Whooooooooooah! That was the ride of my life and I'm ready to do it again.

bp, if I can get into one of those cars, I'm sure you could as well. Actually, it was much easier getting into the car than getting out.

Kat, she and her sister-in-law didn't do the ride but was sitting on the pit wall taking pictures. We are thinking about doing this again next year only at Martinsville.

There were three cars doing the ride, cars #8, #29 and #11. I was in the #11 with a driver by the name of Sean. All the other cars were for those who were driving. When we got there and in line, they were just starting the talk to those drivers and telling them what to do. They would go out two at a time with the trailing car supposing to stay at least four car lengths behind. There are several programs costing different prices for different amounts of laps. You could tell the ride cars verses the drive cars as the ride cars would fly by while those driving would just putter by, or so it seemed from the side lines.

As soon as us riders were secure in the cars, we tore out of the pits and into turn one still excelerating. That was the best part of the whole experience. From there it was all speed and G forces and for two laps, I was in heaven. I highly recommend this to all fans. You won't be sorry that you did.

buck, I celebrated my 50th birthday at Lowe's in a Petty car with an instructor driving. :) :) :) :)

My hubby said I didn't touch the ground when I got out. I couldn't quit smiling. Isn't that the greatest rush you've ever felt. I loved it ! !

OOOOO Buckster, Please post some pics when you have the chance!

Hugs to Mae and Ernie too!

NOW, about those Ships????????

I'll post some pics as soon as I can get them in order and reduced in size. The wife took many pics. Kat, you may call May May, with a Y. :) Also, don't forget Bocephus the cat. You'll hurt his feelings if you don't hug him. ;)

TRL, I never touched the ground until we were about home, somewhere near Childress' vinyards. I just wish that I could afford one of those big time driving experience programs.

Whooooooooooooooooooooah!

Kat LOVES kitties!

{{{{{PURRRR}}}}} to Bocephus!

Mike saw the REAL HANK, JR at a Festival this summer, and was ticked that he didn't have a camera!

Here's a few pics of the most incredible experience I've ever had.

we went in june to TMS. The banking feels near flat in the car, but this weekend at the car show, i stood at the fence, and daggum is the banking tall! We actually talked to a bunch of reps, and they said that in the driving program, you can go as fast as you think you can keep the car under you. The ride along was a 39.5 second lap, but they weren't even on the pedal in the turns.

Wow Buckster! I'm impressed! Did you brag to everybody at work? I know I sure would have!
Looks like you were wearing a Hans Device? Safety FIRST!

Yep, HANS device was mandatory. I didn't work Monday, but will sure brag on it today. There is one of our other carriers who has done this too. She told me that I'd love it and she was right.
