Just dumped Directv

Half the HD channels never worked and AT&T gave us the DVR boxes for free Direct wants you to pay for them.

any idea what bird you were on? DTV dropped all SD as of Aug 1 because that bird was several years past retirement. Granted doesnt mean all channels are HD, you have to have the HD receiver now.

We havent had any probs with DTV for 13 years now.

I have DTV also...Dropping them at the end of next month and going to U verse too. Paying 106 a month for it now....Just too expensive

I was gonna get U-verse, but when I called DirectTV to cancel, they made me a much better deal than I had and even better than the one I was getting with U-Verse. I still kind of liked the U-Verse program, but the warden didn't want to switch. Usually she leaves that kind of stuff up to me, but for some reason she was pretty serious about this one so I just let it go. Not a hill I was willing to die on.

My dad dropped DTV last month. They really didn't offer him much. For the last 2-3 weeks they have been calling him nonstop to come back with all kinds of specials. What the he11 do they think, you are going to drop someone after 2-3 weeks for someone that wouldn't give you a good deal to start with? I think not.

I just checked to see if it's available in my area and it's not. I've been a DTV customer for many years and have had no issues with the service at all, only the price. I've never had issues with HD channels on any of my receivers. When all is said in done, their basically the same anyhow, they all are high priced. They all offer great savings up front whether it be for 6 months or a year and the price then climbs up after that little grace period is over. I do like the portability of DTV and DN. It is nice to be able to have their service anywhere that you want.

We bundled phone, internet, and tv together.Already had phone and internet thru AT&T.It goes $20 higher after 6 months.Still $80 bucks cheaper than the other way.

another fact I might add I live in the cornfields of indiana so I have 2 choices Directv or Dish Network no cable where I live we use a Virgin Mobile Wireless Broadband card for our internet its all pretty basic with an exception of the TV

I have 2 choices here in the sticks

DishTV or DirecTV

Those are the only options for me as well with the exception of one nameless cable company. I'd probably switch to them for a bundled package deal but I'd lose the portability that a satellite provider provides.

Dish and Direct, everyone I know who has it complains over service interuptions in bad weather. FIOS is s-l-o-w when compared to cable so I'm stuck with those *&^%@#% thieving bastages at Cox.

No matter which one you have, IMO they all rob you one way or the other. If I had a choice I'd probably get Dish, but then I wouldn't have the high speed internet that I get from Comcast. There are always drawbacks to all of them.

and considering the lack of rain in this area I may have to wait for a winter storm to test my theory.

Nope. I can vouch for Uverse not going out in a storm. Dumped DishNetwork and went Uverse. Over a year and no outages during a storm. Well, that is unless the dang power goes out. :)

Who needs a big fancy TV? I'll take a little 23" with rabbit ears and an FM/NOAA radio and be fine :p

WOW..I can't believe the deal that they tried to give me!!!!! 6 bucks off for six months...what an insult

Found my first problem. The whole house DVR can record 4 shows at once,The system can do 5 things at one time.Problem is I have 6 tv's.So if you recording some stuff subtract that number from 5 and that's how many tv's will work.Or if no recordings then 5 of the 6 will work.

Would have been nice to know that before hand.

Simple fix...get rid a TV.

You have 6 TVs? Damn, you must be a TV watchin fool! I thought I watched a lot of TV, but I've probably had only three times in the last year or so when I had more then one time when there was a conflict. And my Cox DVR can only do two at a time.

I'd like to know where you found 4 shows to record? At the same time too!

With Cox there must be 2-300 channels availible to me and at times, actually a lot of time, there's "nothing on".

Same here, SST. ROTFLMAO
Yep, same here and we've got 4 TVs in our living space with 3 more in the basement, only one is hooked up. We use only two for the most part and those are connected to DVR's. I primarily use the TV in my office to watch movies online via Roku. Oh, and of course we can watch TV on our computers if we so choose.

Read SST I didn't say I found 4 shows.I said the system can record 4 shows.
