James given replica uniform after final regular-season game

AKRON, Ohio, Feb. 24 — LeBron James lifted the framed No. 23 jersey high above his head. No one could question how or why he got it. The nation’s top player, who jeopardized his career by accepting two gift jerseys, had his high school jersey retired Monday night during a postgame ceremony following Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary’s 90-43 win over Firestone.
 
That may or may not be true about him going to jail. That remains to be seen. So far all he has done is what most people would do in his situation. Capitalize on his fame as many others are doing. We shall soon see what he does once his "amateur" status is gone. He has had a serious lack of guidance from his gold-digging mom and his father figure just got sent up the river for Mortgage Fraud. The odds are stacked against him turning out too well. But, I hope, for him and whatever team gives him a multi-million dollar contract in a few months, he rises above his past.
