Just in case you were wondering how the rookie battle went...

The rookie class was not what is was cracked up to be. Pablo did fair, but not has well as his "hype". Both of the David's have never really showed me they belong in Cup.

Seems the past few years nothing grate has came out of the "rookie class".

Are you kidding?

Juan Pablo Montoya won a race and had several top 10 runs. He got better and better every week.

David Ragan's a good driver, given a little time. They put him in Cup too early, but he's improving. :idunno:

I agree. The rookies this year were significantly below par compared to other years. All you have to do is compare the records.

Comparisons of the past 5 Rookie Of The Years:

2007: Montoya....1 win......3 top 5.....6 top 10........avg fnsh 22.7
2006: Hamlin.......2 wins.....8 top 5.....20 top 10......avg fnsh 12.5

Thanks for posting that! I was wondering what the comparison was.

Doesn't do Juan Pablo justice. He had several good runs ruined by Newman and Truex.

Well some people are in denial about Juan anything to diminish him, he rocks enough said. Juan took chances that didn't pay off he was too aggresive he couldn't played it a little safer, but!!!! He didn't and that's one of the reasons he's my fav. driver . It will pay off in the long run, believe that!
Come on 2008 ! Unfortunately the haters come too, lol.
All in good fun.

Now I know how all the Gordon fans feel.

I love standing up and cheering for Juan Montoya as loud as I can at the races just to get a rise out of people. I love that everyone boos him.

If they're booing him, they know he's out there! :D

Everyone is entitled to cheer for the driver of their choice.
However, the statictics above speak for themself. Even McMurray had a better rookie season than JPM.

Montoya was a whipping boy on this board from day one. No matter what he did he would have been discounted here. 1 Win , top 20 in the points, and a win in the Busch series, well done Juan. Oh and Ward Burton, good to see ya back.

Yep

Juan knows that he has people booing him but if they boo they're watching and talking about him the same. At Indy when he came around I cheered and people didn't like it one bit, but who cares. Juan rocks even the other drivers said he's better then the other rookies he just took more chances then the other ones did. I take the experts opinions over people who don't like him for this or that. He's getting better and better ! By the way McMurray got fired or let go. Juan did not!

Huh?

With 0 wins Mcmurray was better? Not! oh and Juans win who'd he pass. Mcmurray he must not of learned too much his rookie year to let JPM pass his booties:bounce:

Everyone had better stats then Pablo but Kasey and Jamie in the win area. All had more top 5's, top 10's, and a better finish. Wins matter, but sponsors want results, 6 top 10's is not a very good way to keep sponsors and owners happy. Just comparing him to orther rookies he's not put up many impressive numbers. Hell he got his 1st Busch win by knocking the hell out of his team mate. He then stood on his roof (a big nascar no-no) but never recived any fines. (that i remember)

I don't see Pablo being any better next year either:D

Just wait

He's already better then half of them anyways don't need next year to say that! But next year I'm sure he'll show everyone I have no doubt about that. First everyone said he wont qualify he did, then he wont win, he did, then he wont last, he has. So far he's outdid all the expectations that were set by people who don't care for him much. He also doesn't have the best equipment with Ganassi heck the team hadn't won since Mcmurrays win in like what 2003? Enough said:einstein:

Yep

Oh and next time Scott should move or Juan will move him again!

Oh and next time Scott should move or Juan will move him again!

I have never moved over for anyone in racing. Hell i was a lap car one night, and i was not giving the leaders an inch, They had to work for it. If they moved me, hey thats fine cause i was an lap car, but the one and only guy that has tryed to move me to get a spot ended up in the wall! But that was because he did that about 3 times that night and i had enough. I try my best not to use a bumper on someone, cause it can turn around and bite you in the ass.

I was a Pittsburgh Pirates fan back in the 50's and they were always last in the league. I remember our saying was ........."Wait Until Next Year".

That's what iv been saying about the Murray State Races the last few years...ohh yeah and the St. Louis Rams :D

I never said JPM wasn't good. It is just the attitude he come over here with. Like he wasn't here to learn he was here to win. Before the year was over he admitted it was harder than He thought. With the other incoming Indy drivers Juan said "It is harder than they think". I think Nascar may have calmed him abit.

I didn't really have an "attitude" toward Juan at all, but it often became a joke on other driver's boards that they either wanted him away from their driver or hoped he wreck a driver in their driver's way. He did improve later in the season. Just sayin'. ;)

There was another rookie other than JPM? Who knew?

exactly!!! the media (and nascar) pumped JPM down our throats in an attempt to pull in even more open wheel fans.

don't get me wrong. he has a terrific resume. and i truely believe this guy's gonna eventually be a great nascar racer. but there are 10 to 15 other more accomplished racers that could profit greatly from the free exposure JBM has gotten.

I agree with that. Use to all 43 cars got exposure sometime during the race.

Welcome to the board. :)

Yep but that's the medias fault, I don't think it was fair for Juan either to try to live up to those expectations. He's calmed down and I can't wait until next season now that Tony has a Toyota I'm hoping Juan can win at the Brickyard, I have a feeling both of them can run the track well as shown this last year. But if Juans engine is better then tonys then Tony can follow the leader all day instead :)
