Just my luck

A friend of ours aquired for us corporate suite tickets complete with pit pass and all that goes with it, but I can't get off work and so we have to forego the opportunity. It's been a while since the wife and I have been to a NASCAR event, but we used to go quite often. I've had the opportunity to tour the pits before, thanks to the same friend, but that was 14 years ago. But the wife has never had that chance. We still could try to make the race, but I can't get off work any earlier than 4:15 and that isn't a quarentee, but then I have to hurry up and change clothes and drive the hour and a half ride (on a normal day) and try to find a place to park. It just isn't worth the trouble and I know I would get mad as hell with other drivers (as the normal case when I drive to the races ). We'll just have to watch the race on TV like most people.

Buckaroo, go ahead and make the effort. Corporate Suite tickets are really nice. Heck, even if you get there a little late you will still enjoy it......change your mind and gooooooo.

Is that a cough? You feelin' okay buck? I know you would hate to miss a day of work cause your "sick". I think a trip to the track is just what the doctor would order!

Nah, seriously, that is too bad that you have to pass up such a great oppurtunity.

Muggle, I absolutely am not going to put up with the traffic that late. We heard from our friend that he will try for next year and maybe give a little more notice. That is the main reason I couldn't get off work.

DeeDee, the cough just wouldn't work now. My supervisor is a terrific guy and he worked for RJR Sports Marketing for years before they left NASCAR. Derrick knows it all as he's been there and done it all. Would still be doing it all if RJR was still in the sport, but is now working for the PO. Anyway, I looked to see if there was a spot available to take off and at that time, there was and Derrick said, quickly, put in a request. Then he said, wait, let's see if anyone else has put in for the day. Well, there were three other people who put in for that day and there was only one spot available. He would do for me anything to be able to do this, but you can't get blood out of a turnip. Derrick does me good and I'm not going to screw with him. It all comes back in the future anyway. One day we'll be able to do this though.
