Just wondering

Your thoughts on seeing that black #3 back on the track. Brings back a lot of memories for me.
I heard Richard say why his grandson got the number, that it was his, others used it racing for him but it was Dale that made it famous. I seem to recall him saying shortly after Srs passing that he was keeping the number and a black #3 wouldn't be on the track as long as he had it.
I realize it was a cup #3 and this isn't cup but still.

Makes absolutey, 100% no difference to me what-so-ever. It's a number - nothing more.

Now the whining, bawling and crying about it will be all but unbearable but such is life.

I really like seeing the car on track , but I honestly don't care one way or the other . I like that RCR still has the number and it's not some s&p.... but that's as far as it goes. As for Richard keeping the number forever , that is NOT his call. I have a feeling that Mike Helton has a hand in that , and also that no one would dare ask for it.

A car number is a car number but the 3, 24, 43, etc. will be something special to certain people with a certain mindset. Once a driver is out of the car its just a car.

when richard retired he put someone else in tge 43. when jeff retires Rick will put someone else in the 24. now it is time for richard to fill the 3.

i am a little disenchanted on the subject though. i grew up the biggest Bobby Labonte fan. the 18 use to mean a lot to me. now with schrub in the car i could give less ****s about it and JGR.

It would be good if Austin gets the 3 and Ty the 33 in cup.

I have thought about this topic a lot, thanks for posting it by the way. I honestly don't have a problem with using the 3 itself, BUT..... I'd like to see them change the style of it if they want to use it in cup. It was a different style when Richard ran it before Dale. Since we are talking about #'s though.....did you know that Jeff Gordon is the only one to win in a car carrying 24. I found that interesting.

For me it's the style (font) of the 3 that stands out. There is no way to see it and not think of Dale Sr. But when I am watching a race I don't really think of him. I just know that it's one of those Dillon kids racing in grandpa's car.

I've not heard of a single Earnhardt fan that would have an issue with it. This topic has been posted on this board more than once before and every Earnhardt fan that I saw posting would welcome seeing it on the track again, including this Earnhardt fan.

I'm pretty sure Richard Childress said he would never run another #3 painted in the Black/White/Red scheme that Earnhardt became known for? Have you noticed the truck or car never has that exact scheme on it? But it really dosent matter to me even though I'm a longtime Earnhardt fan. I'll admit I enjoy seeing the car run up front in NW and I hope it does the same when it moves to Cup.

You don't tug on Supermans' cape, you don't wizz in the wind, you don't pull the mask of the ol' Long Ranger and you don't screw with a black #3!!!

There, guess ya now know how I feel....

I never really gave a crap about the 3. I respect Dale Sr. for everything he did in this sport and everything he did for this sport but I don't care whether or not the black 3 ever runs another lap.
Now if the same question were asked about the 28 car...

I know Austin has a ton of talent. I have no issue with it. I am sure Dale is looking down and is damn proud that Austin is doing what is he with that number.
