A new twist was added Wednesday to what is expected to be a Labonte lovefest this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.

Bill Davis Racing announced that Justin Labonte will drive the No. 24 Toyota Tundra in the Silverado 350k Friday night at TMS. Labonte is the son of two-time NASCAR champion Terry Labonte, a native of Corpus Christi, Texas, who is making his final start at his home track.

Although Justin, 25, has 75 Busch Series starts, including one victory, the event at Texas will mark Labonte's first Craftsman Truck Series start and first start at TMS. Labonte has most recently been competing in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series.

"We're happy to be able to make what will certainly be an exciting weekend for the entire Labonte family even more special," BDR owner Bill Davis said. "NASCAR wouldn't be what it is today without Terry Labonte. And Justin deserves the chance to make the weekend even more extraordinary."

The younger Labonte finished 22nd in the Busch Series race last Saturday in Memphis, his first Busch race of the year. He was subbing for Kyle Busch in the Hendrick Motorsports No. 5 Chevy. Terry Labonte, 49, won his second Cup title in 1996 driving for Rick Hendrick.

"Obviously, Texas has always been a special place for my family," Justin said. "My dad hopes to make his final Nextel Cup start on Sunday, and there are a lot of things planned throughout the week to celebrate his career. It will be a special weekend for the whole family and for all of Dad's fans."M

Yep, hope Justin has a good race and lots of fond memories.
