Kahne under investigation after incident with security guard UPDATE lawsuit: #9-Nextel Cup driver Kasey Kahne is under investigation by the Homestead Police Department for pushing a track security guard to the ground Friday before the Craftsman Truck Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. A conflict ensued between Kahne and the security guard after Kahne could not provide the proper credential for his brother, Kale Kahne, in order to enter the drivers' motorhome lot inside the speedway, according to Police Capt. Tom Foglia. After the incident, Foglia said, the security guard complained his blood pressure had escalated. An emergency vehicle was called and the security guard was taken to the infield care center. Foglia did not have the name of the security guard or his condition as of early Saturday afternoon. "We are looking into the matter; the detective is handling it," Foglia added. After Cup practice on Saturday, Kahne said, "It was all a misunderstanding." NASCAR officials are aware of the incident and said the sanctioning body will not take action until the local police conclude their investigation. "We can't comment on that right now," NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp said. NASCAR.com)(11-17-2007) UPDATE: A Miami law firm announced its plans Monday to file a lawsuit against a NASCAR driver accused of assaulting a 62-year-old security guard at the Homestead-Miami Speedway last month. Russell Dohan, an attorney with Goldberg & Dohan, said the lawsuit against NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne would be filed Monday in Miami. Kahne, 27, is charged with one count of battery against Archibald Hutchison, who was working as a security guard at the speedway for a race Nov. 16 when the incident allegedly occurred. According to a Homestead police report, Kahne was attempting to access a restricted recreational vehicle parking lot on a golf cart after he finished driving his racecar when Hutchison stopped him and asked him for credentials. Kahne stated that he was a driver and didn't need any, then got out of the golf cart and tried to walk through the gate, the report stated. When Hutchison blocked the entrance and asked Kahne for credentials again, Kahne pushed Hutchison to the ground, according to the report. The report said Kahne was stopped and detained by law enforcement officers who witnessed the incident. He was arrested later that day and released on the signed condition that he appears in court. Hutchison, who was advised not to let any unauthorized people through gate 208 without exception, was treated at the speedway's medical facility for minor bruises and abrasions, according to the report. Dohan said Hutchison hasn't been able to return to work because of his injuries. Dohan said his client has suffered emotionally from the incident and is "getting killed" by NASCAR fans on Web site blogs. He also said he planned to have his client speak with the media about the lawsuit at a news conference planned for Tuesday. (local10.com)

Here's the money lines, can't work, minor abrasions and an attorney, what a load. KAHN WAS WRONG AND DESERVES SOME PENELTY, but this will get blown out of proportion, big time. If this was at a dirt track with a local yokal, the yokal would have spent a couple of days in da husecow and that would be the end. I won't be very popular, but thats my opinion. Duane

I'll let you draw your own conclusions.

Kahne should've known better.

The dude did his job. If he would've done that at MIR, he'd be spending a weekend in a jail cell in Lexington Park.

What do ya want to bet the guys a semiretired New Yorker, he just has the look. I can see he can't get around, except to court, to work. KK would get more out of the week end in Jail then money spent, and 62 ain't to old for a guard, they had a 78 year old one killed somewhere in Fa. just a few months ago. Duane

I really think this guy has $$$$ in his eyes. My brother looks a lot younger at 61.. heck, you wouldn't even think he was near that and could handle being a guard with no problem. My question is, if the guy would get pushed over by a lightweight like Kasey, just how good would he be at handling some majorly rowdy race fans? Kasey was wrong to do it, but I think this guy is probably milking it for all he thinks he can get. JMO!

I'll have you know that Kasey is a giant of a man standing a towering 5'8" and is a true heavy weight at 150 pounds. This guy didn't stand a chance in the face of such overwhelming force. I've even heard that Chuck Norris runs away making little girl noises when Kasey walks into the room...

I was able to find this rare pic of Kasey when he was younger and hadn't yet begun to shave.

I find it hard to believe. Kahne looks like he would have trouble pushing around a 5th grader.

Yeah he does.. but maybe getting that BEER sponsor and dying his hair black gave him a shot of macho for the moment. :D :D

From another board where the poster is friends with a Kahne crew member

"He WAS not doing his job. He was playing rent-a-cop. I know this from personnel that was there. Nothing will come of this and it is almost already settled. This guy has tried to scream "fox" before. He was actaully advised to use his judgement about the ID's and the drivers at his discretion because they were practicing. Kasey had just finished practice and did not have his badge. There were others with him that had their badge and vouched for him - all the while the rent-a-cop called him by name and knew him. btw - he had let another driver through the gate earlier without his ID badge.

This is the problem with society, this rent-a-cop has opened up his mouth and sued for money seeing dollar figures. He will get some money because Kahne does not want a drawn out process. You also have a cop that left the facility under his own power, showed no problems AFTER being attended to, and had no problem leaving the facility. The incident has been overblown by the media and the cop."

I've long traded words with this poster and they are usually spot on. Besides this just has the ring of truth to it.

Sounds like something which could happen easily and I wouldn't doubt this guy's story either. I read somewhere else he's only suing for something like 15K? Weird.

If all he wants is 15K then yeah I can see that being paid. I just hope that if the stories are true Nascar blacklists him from ever working their events...
