“(In) the last (several) years, the serious racers, the guys who go to 24 events a year, that’s really fallen off the wayside,” he explained.

In the 1990s, drivers would gladly pay NASCAR a fee each season because they raced in most – if not all – of the races. But last year, out of 400 drivers who raced at the Kalamazoo Speedway, only 33 were there every week.

Not a big deal, lots of tracks get rid of the Whelen All American Series sanction, some go back to it , some don't. I'm sure Kalamazoo will do great without it, I was able to make it up there for the first time this year, they put on a great show at a really nice facility! I doubt the sanction does much for drawing fans... I don't think many casual fans are gonna go just because they put the NASCAR logo on the local race product, most casual fans aren't interested in anything other than cup... The hardcore fans are gonna go either way.
