Is that a misprint, Montoya in 42nd? If you're sent to the back isn't the back 43rd? As his time was disallowed why is Nemechek, who got in on time, behind him. <insert scratching head icon here>

Thankee

Anyone else notice Harvicks speed for the BUSCH pole was faster than either Montoya's disallowed and Johnsons speeds in cup?

The field is actually 42 cars. The 43rd spot is held for a past champion. Since it wasn't needed, it goes to the next fastest qualifier.

JPM's time was disallowed --- therefore, in the eyes of the officials, he never made a qualifying lap. That's why he start 42nd.

I never knew that, TRL. Thanks for that info, I've wondered that before but was afraid to ask.

Around these parts you should never ever be afraid to ask a question. We have some very knowledgable people on racing matters. And, if you were questioning it then probably others were as well and were afraid to ask.

You know what they say, there are no stupid questions...
