Hi. Im driving out from Canada to the Kansas race in May to take my 9 year old son to his first live race for his birthday (he's a huge fan). Can anyone pass along any advise for race day (and for the days before)...?

1. get to the track early to experience and explore.
2. take lots of pictures and video if you get the chance.
3. don't set too high of expectations for your son, but make a big deal when good things do happen.
4. since it's a night race, allow for some rest time before the race: a tired child is a cranky child.
5. keep an eye on the weather forecast and dress accordingly.
6.be prepared to stand to see. nascar fans have become quite boorish when considering the fans around them.
7. on the other hand, race fans are notoriously some of the friendliest people you'll meet. and a 9 year old companion will generate tremendous goodwill.
8. relax and enjoy the trip. it may be just a race, but you are making priceless lifelong memories.
