Kansas to get 2nd Cup date before Kentucky gets first

Kentucky Speedway needs to make their antitrust lawsuit disappear.

Bruton Smith needs to take the fall date from Atlanta or the spring date from Texas and move it to Kentucky.

Sadly, Texas is here to stay. They sued to get two dates so I don't think that's going away even if TMS does suck. 2 open wheel races I could understand. The IndyCar races at Texas are awesome. But their NASCAR races suck.

Either way, Kentucky Speedway should get a Cup date.

Leave Texas alone, take one from Cali
Why?

Two different owners. If Smitty wants a date at Kentucky, it's either coming from Texas or Atlanta because those are his worst two tracks in ticket sales.

ISC's gonna pull a date from Martinsville or Richmond before they pull one from Auto Club Speedway.

TMS dropping ticket sales?

I'm not so sure about it. Would he be adding track-side RV hookups if they werent selling?

That will probably be Atlanta. If moving the fall race to Labor Day weekend doesn't improve ticket sales, I'd expect that date to be switched. Except for this year, that track has had the best racing on the circuit. But fans don't come out. Typical Atlanta sports fans.

Kansas Speedway pulls plug on Hard Rock Hotel

NEW YORK -- With final approval only hours away, Kansas Entertainment LLC, a partnership between International Speedway Corporation and the Cordish Co., withdrew its bid to build and manage a state-owned Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and entertainment complex estimated at $705 million, according to The Kansas City Star.

The withdrawal of the current bid, announced Friday, allows the partnership to recover a $25-million state application fee, which would have become non-refundable upon final approval of the project. The partnership will resubmit a bid based on a phased development of the casino and subsequent non-gaming hotel and entertainment facilities.

As with the original proposal, the new bid will seek a second Cup date for the 1.5-mile speedway, which currently hosts one event
