This REALLY surprised me! Including this season, that gives him 4 more years there at a minimum. So what happens to Chase Elliot? Jimmy Johnson and Jr. aren’t going anywhere soon I would think so maybe 2015 will be Jeff Gordon’s last season before he retires?

I can’t imagine Rick holding Chase out of cup for two more seasons.

Maybe Rick and Jr work a deal where Jr. owns the Chase Elliott team, which, naturally, uses all Hendrick equipment.

I mean you got to admit, Hendrick has done a great job at this type thing, a good example of this is, Stewart Haas Racing.

Before long Hendrick will be racing himself most of the time, LOL.

oh crap not another when Gordon retires thread. Stewart- Haas came about because Tony had Chevy ties and driving and Toyota was messing with his deal. Haas was wanting to have a team and so was Stewart. This satellite Hendrick stuff is getting old. Makes about as much sense as saying everybody is a TRD or a Yates satellite. Jr has said on more that one occasion that he ain't doing that, and I think it is against the rules to drive for one team and own another team in the same series. As long as wild guesses abound, how about Awesome Bill from Dawsonville team owner?

A little over a month too late on this breaking news. Already being discussed over in the Kasey Kahne Thread.

Hendrick wouldn't do it without knowing when the GOAT is gonna hang it up. Jimmie and Dale are getting up there in age too. Hendrick motorsports has to get younger soon, and they can't do it by getting rid of Kahne.

I also have a feeling another Hendrick seat will become available right as Larson's contract with Gannasi runs out. Rick isn't gonna let the dynasty die when the big three go. It makes sense to keep Kahne.

It's HARD to start a Cup Series team these days. I wouldn't imagine Bill's team being much more competitive than Swan Racing. When it comes to the new start-up teams, there's Front Row racing, which has Bob Jenkins, who owns a bunch of restaurants, and there's Swan, which is an energy company. I can imagine Bill's team being like BK Racing, getting one sponsor to start up, uncompetitively at first. Not good enough for Chase.

Jeff Gordon owns 60% of the 48 team. Contracts were signed before the new rules came into affect..
Can anyone post a link to Gordon's ownership role in the #48 team? I only ask because officially Rick Hendrick is listed as the team owner. Where do the numbers come from for Jeff Gordon's ownership percentage?

Bill Elliott had six winless seasons as a team owner, not sure he'd wanna go down that road again, even though the circumstances are different this time.

The official rule is that you and your team owner cannot combine to own more than 4 teams.

If (for example) Martin Truex Jr. wanted to start a team, no one could stop him since he and FRR would only have 2 teams between them.

yeah for sure. Just a guess to keep it going, but he has been a team owner a lot for Chase moving up the ranks already, but nothing like the big leagues. I have a feeling that Hendrick will work something out, might be smoke and mirrors, and Nascar will have to put on their Sherlock Holmes hat on to catch him at it. He will keep Kasey and the rest of the drivers and somehow make sure Chase gets to run a competitive car in cup.

Has anyone given thought to Chase replacing Danica for 2016??
Not sure when Go Daddy's contract is up. I thought I read where they are signed longer than she is.

Danica , for sure , (because she's a woman) , but Tony very soon too , because of his age , and Kurt's troubles need to resolve themselves . A stable , young driver over there might be a great add.
