Its pretty sad of me being a Kasey Kahne fan and not knowing till today Tommy Baldwin Jr. is know longer Kaseys Crew Chief!?

So now Tommy Baldwin Jr is Elliott Sadlers Crew Chief!?

Can anyone give me any background on Kenny Francis? Also what happened to make Tommy Baldwin leave Evernham Motorsports!?!

Thanks!

Don't know much about the new CC but Tommy wanted out before last season was over. Of course, he wouldn't admit it until the season was over. He's a good guy and I wish him luck. Maybe he just didn't see eye to eye with either Ray or Kasey.

Being a fan of Kasey, I'll be you liked what you heard today after the race when Kasey said that he would now concentrate on the points instead of doing what he did last year. I'm thinking that last year he wanted to push it to the limit all the time, thus ending the races way too early. That might have been something that Tommy pushed on him, or maybe it was what Kasey wanted to do. That just might be one of the reasons that Tommy wanted out. Remember, Kasey crashed out of more races last year than anyone. I'm hoping that this year will certainly be different and better. So far so good.

I was wondering why they didn't so much as say anything about it..
i think its good that Kahne wants points not on winning, i think it should help him a lot points wise..

I couldnt agree with you guys more!! Does anyone know were Kenny Francis came from? Was he working with another nascar driver before this year or bush series maybe???

Thanks guys for the response!

Francis, a longtime member of Evernham Motorsports, takes on a new role for 2006 as the team director for the No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger driven by Kasey Kahne. Francis, who served as the team director for the No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger of Jeremy Mayfield in 2005, also worked in the role as team director for that team for two seasons.

Francis started his adventure in motorsports at a very young age.

At eight years old, Francis was racing go karts around his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. His success on the local level led to a state championship and a trip around the regional and national circuits. Francis continued racing and didn’t stop when he enrolled in the University of Florida where he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. As Francis took the next step in his education, he did the same in racing, graduating to late model stock cars. Racing close to school, Francis busied himself with studying, racing and working at a power company.

Graduating in 1993, Francis devoted more time to racing and began traveling to places such as Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and South Boston, Virginia. While he was competitive in late models, sitting on a few poles and winning his share of races, he grew tired of the rigors of finding the sponsorship needed to run. The hassles of making it to the track every week, coupled with the fact that he was still working at the power company, forced Francis to make a decision.

In 1996, Francis got out of the car and began working in the Busch Series for a Florida-based team. He did everything from chief fabricator to car set up. He continued in the Busch Series until he made the leap to the Winston Cup Series in 1998 with Butch Mock and driver Rick Mast. It was his sophomore season on the circuit that Francis found himself on the championship team of driver Dale Jarrett.

Francis stayed with the team through the 2000 season, but the appeal of working with Ray Evernham and returning manufacturer Dodge proved too tempting. So in 2001, Francis joined Evernham Motorsports as the team engineer for the No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge with driver Bill Elliott before moving to the No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge team in 2003.

That must have been the best kept secret in racing. I never heard about it either until it was mentioned in yesterday's race.

Thanks BobbyFord for the info!!!

MRM it threw me for a loop, I was like what are you guys talking about new crew chief then started reading more after the race about Tommy leaving. I cant complain however a 11th and 4th place finish the last two weeks is great! Better yet he finished both races in one piece!!! :D Keep up the good work Kenny Francis!

anyone esle starting to feel like Baldwin is going to be one of those crew chief that bounces from team to team? I thought he had the chance to be a great crew chief when he was with Ward Burton....but he hasnt stuck around one place long enough yet to really show what he's got...if he has anything.

Being a huge Kahne fan too, i'd have to say it's for the best look how solid he's been!!!
