BULLS GAP, Tenn. — Volunteer Speedway is proud to announce that NASCAR Nextel Cup Series superstar Kasey Kahne will serve as Grand Marshall on Saturday, March 24 when the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series makes its first-ever appearance at "The Gap."

Besides driving the No. 9 Dodge for car owner Ray Evernham in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, Kahne also owns the No. 9 Open Joist ASE Mopar-powered World of Outlaws sprint car driven by Joey Saldana of Brownsburg, Ind. Saldana has visited victory lane twice so far in 2007, winning at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., and picking up win number two this past Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, Miss. The Kasey Kahne Racing No. 9 team is currently second in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series point standings.

The 26-year-old Kahne, a native of Enumclaw, Wash., burst onto the scene in Nextel Cup Series competition in 2004 when he took over the seat in the Evernham Motorsports No. 9 Dodge from legendary NASCAR driver Bill Elliott. Kahne recorded five runner-up finishes and finished 13th in points and easily won the Raybestos Rookie-of-the-Year title. He captured his first Nextel Cup Series victory in May of 2005 at Richmond International Raceway, winning from the pole position. Kahne drove to victory lane on six occasions during the 2006 season en route to claiming a coveted spot in the "Chase for the Championship."

Kahne is one of a select group of drivers to have won NASCAR events in all three series' — Nextel Cup, Busch and Craftsman Truck.

A fan-favorite since making his inaugural appearance in NASCAR racing, the single Kahne garnered much attention from female fans a couple of years ago when he was named one of "America's Top 50 Bachelor's" by People magazine.

Kahne and the No. 9 Everham Motorsports NASCAR Nextel Cup Series team will be in action Friday through Sunday, March 23-25 at nearby Bristol Motor Speedway, where they will debut the much-anticipated "Car of Tomorrow" in the running of the Food City 500. In last spring's Food City 500, Kahne recorded a very strong 10th-place finish.
