before I left for dinner the NW race was starting so I recorded it. went to dinner with the wife. came home and checked and found kyle busch won the race AGAIN. I was about to watch the race I recorded but decided why bother when kyle wins the race. I wonder if this is starting to take its toll on ratings. someone seriously needs to step up when it comes to NW racing. another team needs to challenge these guys. otherwise I don't think I am going to be watching that many NW races.

I think all races are boring if I find out who wins before I watch it. The key is to not look up the winner before you watch.

The problem is that Kyle Busch tends to dominate the Nationwide races. It's like watching an Olympic 100 meter dash runner take on the local high school or college team. Everyone knows that he's in a much different (and higher) league than the high school/college team, so to see him win the event is not exciting, it's not fun, and most of all, it's very very very boring.

Honestly I think Kyle does it to pad his fragile ego. He knows he has a shot at a sure win when he races in Nationwide, so that's why he does it. I'm just surprise he isn't bored of Nationwide yet.

So Kyle was in a "higher league" than Joey, Matt, Kasey, Elliot...?

All Sprint Cup drivers are in a higher league when they run Nationwide or Trucks. Honestly if I was in charge of NASCAR, I'd tell the drivers to pick one series and stick to it. If they go to another series, they get suspended from the series they chose for six races, no question asked.

The cup drivers have earned the privilege to run in both Nationwide and cup. If you get a promotion at work you get more money and more perks or privileges. Sponsors want to finance you, fans want to come and watch you race that might not be able to watch the cup race or afford the ticket. simple economics

And someone who competes in the lower series full-time loses a win to someone who competes full-time in a higher series. And many fans (like me) end up not happy.

Personally, if I received a promotion at work, I'd expect to no longer be doing the job of those below me.

Ummm ... next time, don't check.
Watch the race in it's entirety.

You're probably right. It's all ego. I'm sure that extra $70k he gets every time he wins a Nationwide race has absolutely nothing to do with why he does it. Some people try to look into his "reasons" way too much. I think the fact that it's put another $10 million in his bank account has a LOT to do with why he races all 3 series.

While the money doesn't hurt, it's also clear to me that Kyle Bush loves to race. Wherever he's at, he enters as many races as he can. Why can't people just accept that the guy loves what he does?

For sure. I'm not saying that money is completely the driving force, just saying it's a damn good reason why. Obviously the dude has a major passion for any kind of racing.

Money is a big factor..I think he loves to race but it's not for his ego.. The guy is a threat to win ANY race.. it's a little more difficult in CUP obviously but it's not like he can't win in that series.

Kyle won, love that....4 JGR cars in the top 5, love that too....but I will admit that it wasn't the most exciting race I've ever seen. I don't subscribe to the "I've never seen a bad race" school of thought, they can't all be classics, and some races do deserve to be labeled with the "B" word. And that's not unlike any other sport out there. I love a good 34-31 in OT football game, but I realize they can't all be like that and there are going to be a few 41-3 games peppered in every now and then.

I always give a race a 6 to 9 1/2 but this one was a lousy ass 3.

I think that most of the inexperienced Nationwide drivers understand and appreciate that you have to lose a few races now in order to be a champion later, and they realize that by the cup guys running with them it is pushing them harder and teaching them more then they could ever learn on their own. They can watch their lines and gather so much information from the cup drivers that will help them become champions later in life. And the ones that do not become champions, wasn't going to anyway no matter if the Cup drivers were there or not.

The real problem (aside from you looking up who won first.....always a mistake when you record a race) is the NNS has completely lost its identity. Way too many companion events, and the series no longer can stand on its own. It's really turned into more of a prelim day of Cup racing than its won series.

For all you young people out there who weren't around ... before the cup regulars started racing in this series , it was pretty much crap. It was like ARCA , sponsors weren't interested , TV wasn't interested and fans didn't attend . There were more fans tailgating in the parking lot during the Busch race then there were in the stands . When Mark Martin , Dale Sr. , Harry Gant and others started racing on Saturday , the fans came inside to see them . Go back to it being ARCA ,if that's what you want , I was never a big fan of it anyway , but don't expect to see it on tv.

There's enough young talent out there right now that the series should be able to survive and thrive if the small handful of Cup regulars who routinely run in the Nationwide Series are forced out. Most Truck races now have no Cup regulars and even when they do it's about two at most, and that series has every race televised live and it's fun to watch and follow.

to play devils advocate.. The truck series is on Speed live whereas nationwide is on the bigger Espn2 and sometimes ABC..The truck series also runs less races and the sponsers aren't as plentiful. Now I don't want the cup guys in the nationwide series either but I don't think the truck series is thriving so to speak.

The way things are going the Nationwide Series will be on SPEED/FOX Sports 1 soon enough. I don't know if anyone else has seen it but there was a report last week that ESPN is strongly considering dropping the first half of the series and starting it the same weekend they pick up the Cup Series (Indy) because it simply isn't worth the cost anymore. Of course, I don't expect the Nationwide Series to get the same coverage as Cup and the Truck Series to get the same coverage as Nationwide, but the Trucks appear to be closing the gap and are doing pretty well considering it's basically the equivalent of Double-A baseball while the NWS falls further away from Cup.

The series always had great drivers , just no one to watch them .

and that has changed now how?

I don't see the nationwide series failing. Especially right now. Don't get me wrong I HATE when kybu dominates in the 54 car(useless without Gibbs) but this is the most intriguing nationwide field I've seen since jr. and Kenseth honestly. 10 to 15 good regulars on a weekly basis and the "names are made here" campaign is genius and accurate.

For all you young people out there the above post forgot to explain that this is the opinion of one person not all old fans. My opinion is that I always liked both series and then all three when the trucks came into being and the two lower tiers are not now nor have they ever been anywhere the draw of the cup series nor should they be. The same for the local tracks, I didn't go to Five Flags or Mobile or any of the others just to see all of the big stars, I went to see good racing and I mostly saw good racing whether the Alabama gang or Richard Petty or anybody else was in the race or not.

Not to many realize that Gibbs, not Kyle is stacking the field. Earnhardt has only one car and they are beating them all by a wide margin. Gibbs is a distant third, almost a full race behind with his regulars. They are both in the top five though. Go JR.

I'm probably wrong on this too, but I think Kahne was driving for JRM as well.

Last night Ted, Kahne was driving the only Hendrick car in the race. Bush, Kenseth, Vickers, and Sadler, were Gibbs. Turner motorsports had a big wad, four cars. etc. Roush had a couple, Kyle had one with Klingerman

The stands looked pretty full here at South Boston back in 95. And actually, looking at grandstands from recent years, I'd say there are probably more outside tailgating than in the stands, and getting tickets only because of the package deal.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - the NNS drivers need to start making things not so easy for the cup guys. Take an attitude and say that you don't belong here and we're going to let you know about it.

oh man, south boston has a capacity of 10 thousand..darlington 65,000 yeah it would look pretty full for sure.:)

Kahne runs for JR Motorsports.

I guess my rant should have been WILL SOMEONE GET SICK OF BEING BEATEN BY GIBBS IN THE NW SERIES AND STEP UP AND DO SOMETHING. I like cup guys in the NW races it helps the series and gets people watching. I just get sick of KB winning all the time.
