AutoZone Puts the Pedal to the Metal as Primary Sponsor of ppc Racing #22 Car Driven by Kenny Wallace

(Madison, Ill.) –ppc Racing and AutoZone, Inc. announced today that AutoZone will be the primary sponsor of the No. 22 ppc Racing Ford Taurus driven by Kenny Wallace in the NASCAR Busch Series beginning with the race at Indianapolis Raceway Park on August 6.

“With Kenny Wallace and ppc Racing, we are certain our customers and all fans of the NASCAR Busch Series will see exciting racing,” said Bill Rhodes, President and CEO of AutoZone. Kenny is a great spokesperson for racing and we are confident NASCAR fans will support this team and AutoZone in this new partnership.”

“Our sponsorship of the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division Series, in which we provide opportunities for up-and-coming NASCAR drivers, has been a good first step for AutoZone,” said Rhodes. “Now, we are ready to move to the front of the pack with ppc Racing and Kenny Wallace.”

“I can’t tell you how excited I am about AutoZone’s commitment to sponsor me and ppc Racing on the No. 22 Ford Taurus,” said Kenny Wallace. “I know that we’re going to have a great-looking race car to unveil next week at IRP. I am particularly excited to join in this announcement this weekend at Gateway as we take part in The Wallace Family Tribute 250 presented by Shop ‘n Save.”

“ppc Racing is thrilled and honored to create this alliance with AutoZone,” said Greg Pollex, owner of ppc Racing. “AutoZone’s sponsorship will prominently showcase the top-notch competitive abilities of driver Kenny Wallace, Crew Chief Wes Ward, the ppc Racing team and the combination of Roush-Yates Racing Engines and Ford Racing Technology.

“We have a lot of exciting things planned with AutoZone that will educate fans and consumers about vehicle maintenance, safety and equipment that you’ll see during the next four months as we contend for the Busch Series championship,” said Pollex. “We are extremely grateful to AutoZone for the confidence it has placed in ppc Racing.”

“I owe so much to my parents and my brothers for all that they have done, and am truly honored by the showing of support that we have received from the City of St. Louis and the surrounding area, and all of the people associated with NASCAR racing,” said Wallace. “I can’t think of a better way to top off this week than to win the race tonight and then step into my AutoZone car next week at IRP in the final thirteen events as we race for the championship.

“On behalf of the 50,000 AutoZoners everywhere, we congratulate and thank the Wallace family for all their contributions to stock car racing and wish Kenny the best of luck this weekend and throughout the remainder of the season,” said Rhodes.

Good for Kenny. He is one that I really want to see get back to victory lane.

I am glad that AutoZone will be sponsoring the 22 car driven by Kenny Wallace. Kenny is a good guy and will do well for AutoZone. I wish him success in the Busch series and hope he finishes up front.

As long as he doesnt use AutoZone parts on hes car he should do fine! :)

I love Kenny and glad he has a sponsor for next season.

Thats a cool deal Lap3Forever!! I dont think you can go wrong with oil and filters from auto zone. Ive just had some bad experience with break pads from autozone. Lifetime warranty is great but when your replacing your pads every 4 months kinda sucks. After changing to a differant pad which auto zone doesnt carry I havent had to change them in over a year now. I think it depends on what parts you use maybe? Anyhow I was just joking about Kenny and using AutoZone parts on hes race car. :)

I've NEVER had even the most minor problem with AutoZone! In fact, I prefer my local Autozone to the local NAPA.

Glad to hear the good news! NAPA parts are to damn high or use to be last time I shopped there.

I put Auto Zone lifetime brakes on my sunfire back in the spring and they still are braking fine! I dont go to Auto Zone in murray anymore because they would belive me if i said i needed "spark plugs" for a desial motor. lol

Have got some good parts from NAPA also, but they are high.

I know ya was just jokin' brickyard, :)

beat me to that part.

my granddad gets a discount there because he has to get a lot of parts there, but that discount still anit cheep.

i am just glad that kenny is getting a new sponsor i hope he does good for them

I like Kenny. He's a good guy. But he's only an average driver at best. This sponsorship won't last long. If Auto Zone is serious about NASCAR, they can do better than that.

But for now, I hope he won't overdo it like M. Waltrip. Although, from the little I've seen lately, he's trying hard to use their name at least 12 times in each sentence..

Well see there's your problem right there. They were doing exactly what they told you they were going to do - break. You probably changed and bought brake pads and that's why they lasted. :D
