Somethign that's failed to be mentioned:
Every track is going to have traffic on it's first race. Think back to when TMS first opened. They had the same deal- ran out of concessions, traffic was LONG, and the race was a **itfest.
TMS learned from that first race. Bruton fixed the track, and they made a new traffic plan. For trucks and nationwide, thery don't even bother with traffic control, it generally controls itself. But for cup, they start moving traffic 3 miles downrange in any given direction. When I was in the stands, it never took longer then 15 minutes between getting in the car and getting on the highway home, never had traffic on the way home. When I switched to infield, it was 25 minutes from car to interstate, then about another 15 minutes of traffic down range where they brought in the frontstretch traffic.
Granted, TMS is spoiled with 2 state highways and one interstate around it. Front stretch gets dumped on highway 156, and merges with the interstate 3 miles south via alliance parkway, and 3 miles north via an FM road, and again 20 miles north.
Infield traffic gets put on highway 114, which then continues on, or you can get on the I-35 service road for 1 mile before merging onto the interstate.
Backstretch traffic gets directly on I-35.
Kentucky has the same deal, an interstate and 2 highways. Seems to me they could have frontstretch parking come in on highway 1039, and backstretch and infield on highway 35. That said, I can just visually tell that Kentucky doesn't have enough parking.
