Well guys, its Daytona Speedweeks, the most exciting time of the year, then afterwards, after the Daytona 500 every race after that is basically crap, until the Pepsi 400, Brickyard 400 and EA Sports 500 but anyway, looks like Kevin has been holding up pretty well so far during speedweeks. During Saturday Night's Budweiser Shootout, Kevin led towards the end of the race until Dale Jarrett and Dale Earnhardt Jr. had their battle for the win, Kevin finished 3rd in that, good job Happy! Kevin then qualified ninth for the Twin 125s race, he will be racing in the second segment, looking to be one of the strongest cars out there, also, teammates Robby Gordon and Johnny Sauter will be racing for the win as well, the entire RCR organization looks to be very very strong heading into the 2004 Nextel Cup Season.

CHEVROLET NOTES & QUOTES

NASCAR NEXTEL CUP SERIES

DAYTONA 500 QUALIFYING

DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

February 8, 2004

KEVIN HARVICK, NO. 29 GM GOODWRENCH CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO "Yeah, I made a good lap there. I had a good car there, and I did everything I could, and it was a good lap for us, and we'll race hard in the 125."

LAST NIGHT ON THE WHITE FLAG YOU WERE LEADING THE BUD SHOOTOUT WITH ONE LAP TO GO. IS THAT THE PLACE YOU WANT TO BE?  If I had it to do over again, I'd do it the same way. So you run second and I'll run first and we'll see how the percentages fall; I think a 50-50 shot, and the outside lane was just a little bit faster."

Kevin says that the higher lane was a bit faster during the race, bit surprising, I expected the lower lane to be the route to victory lane.

Its a restrictor plate track, you could run anywhere you want to and the effects would be little, the two or three lanes probably have the same grip. Maybe the cars are starting to bog down a bit on the lower lane thats why a lot of guys were passing on the outside and in some cases it worked to their advantage.

I just hope the fords haven't come up with some kind of trick to domanate this year.

It will be hard for them to dominate a season with only 8 Fords in the series.

I agree Kat, he was leading the race close to the end of the shootout, he was one lap away from winning it. Well, cant win em all I guess :(

Kevin-Harvick related news: Engine tuner John Dennison has left Kevin Harvick's No. 29 team to replace crew member Jeff Clark on Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s No. 8 car. Clark submitted his resignation in January, but he stayed on to help the team through Speedweeks. Brian Englehart will temporarily fill in on the No. 29 crew until a full-time tuner is hired. . . .

Well, thats unfortunate, guess he wont reap the benefits of a championship! :) J/K

Oh and guys, dont forget, if you have the time, please register at RacingPress.com's Yahoo Fantasy League

Sure, that is if I have the time. I dunno though I am loaded up to nine to three years ago on fantasy leagues

Nine to three years ago huh?

Oh and BTW, congrats on winning the league championship R10F.

I'm a horrible road racer, short track racer but everything else is ok. I might have to get a new steering wheel though for next season. :D

I'm not coming back for next season, I might try Daytona and Talladega, but thats about it. I've been bogged down too many times with homework, uh thats about it that I cant compete that much in the league anymore.

Happy, what happened to the board where you were an admin? I can still see it and post if I want, but it's been a LOOOOONG time since it was active.

Kat, I intend to open it again, its my best intention to, however it just fell down and I havent opened it for awhile. I might start it back up soon, I dunno really.

Tonights not a very active night in our meeting, I guess we might as well call it quits early. :(

Hey, theyre still showing Playmakers on ESPN?
Really? They are? Damn, I thought the NFL canned that show. Great show, reminds me of the old profanity-ridden shows on HBO.

I think the big bonus of the second 125 is that Robby's in there as well as Kevin...maybe they can use some good teamwork (Robby's made some good comments recently at his homepage) and nail down a 1-2 finish...THEN they can dominate the 500. All the extra help in the Kisses 300...you think RG and Harvick will help each other out there? Robby drives for himself in that series. I don't know.

Maybe, but I'm not expecting them to help each other when the race comes down to the wire :D

Arright, our FINAL fan club meeting will be on Monday, February 16th, the day after the Daytona 500, regardless of what happens. See y'all then.
