When Kevin Harvick won the Sams Town 300 by a close shave over Kasey Kahne, we all thought the 29 team would be the ones to watch during the UAW Daimler Chrysler 400. They were, Kevin and the team marched to the front in the early going, going as high as second, and then later on taking the lead off of the pit stops and battling with Matt Kenseth for the lead.
Until.. whether it was the fuel calculator or a fuel leak or something, Kevin ran out of fuel with 2 laps to go thus ruining their chances at proceeding higher in the points.
Well, he ran out of fuel, but it was a valiant effort by the 2003 Brickyard 400 winner.
I met 2-Time Daytona 500 Champion Sterling Marlin at the Sunset Station Casino and got some stuff autographed by him, he was a pretty nice guy.
Did I forget to mention I got Kevin's autograph on my hat and got to talk to him? Pretty sure most of us have talked to him or got stuff autographed but it was hell getting through the big push by the fans surrounding the souvenir trailer, as there was no way to organize it (i.e tickets, or a line). This was after the Busch Series race. Kevin was a nice guy, he seemed laid back, relaxed, excited and stayed until almost every fan near the trailer got their autograph.
Sorry to brag a little more, but I'm still very excited! Did I also forget to mention I got a 1/24 2004 GM Goodwrench Chevy Diecast autographed by him too?
Then the next day right before the UAW Daimler Chrysler 400, I got to talk to and get my 1/64 Valvoline diecast autographed by current Nextel Cup Rookie Scott Riggs, I also got a pic taken with him, I'll post that as soon as I get the chance to get the film developed. I also got my 1/24 Cingular Wireless 2003 Diecast autographed by Robby Gordon, winner of 3 Nextel Cup races and one of the most talented drivers on the circuit.
It was a great weekend for me all in all, well, enough of me, sorry to brag but I'm still excited and literally off my seat, even though I got little sleep . What'd you guys do?
