I voted for outperformed. He's been running solid but I think someone else is going to step their game up when it comes time for the chase.
 
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Harvick win it -- but I feel like you're going to have to win 4 or 5 races in the Chase to win the championship.
 
You forgot "who cares". How can anyone really think the cup champion comes from just ten races. It is called a season for a reason.

I don't think you will find many people who like the chase format, especially on here but the topic is still a valid one since we are still stuck with the chase.

Ah yea you are right about tony, I read it wrong on wikipedia(nascar.coms standings was much easier to read) Harvick was in the lead in 2006. Jimmie entered the chase first in 2007.

Harvick was not leading ENTERING the Chase in 2006, he was third in points. He had to race his way in to the Chase with a win at Richmond.

As I look back, neither was Jimmie -- Matt Kenseth was leading entering the Chase. Jimmie was 2nd, Harvick 3rd.
 
All of you who hate the Chase need to take your anger out on the USARacing Pro Cup Series -- they were the grand architects of it.
 
Leading into the Chase is not going to do it. Harvick has had the ability to finish up front even when he doesn't have the best car, A trait of a championship season. I feel he is going to have to get hot toward end of year winning on non-restrictor plate tracks to get it done. I hope this happens.
 
I think Harvick will win , this is the year JJ chokes in the Chase. I think RCR has stepped up their game, the one guy that I think could possibly take it away from Harvick is Gordon if he peaks at the right time.

I'd like to see Harvick win. Actually, I'd like to see anyone other than Johnson win the championship but I've become thoroughly convinced over the past four years that I will never see a driver other than Johnson win the title. Seriously, this guy has been unstoppable. I think he has single handily ruined the Chase with his total domination.

Comparing Martin to Harvick is like comparing apples to oranges. Two VASTLY different driving styles. Mark Martin is probably one of the best to ever wheel a stock car but lacks the aggressiveness of a Champion. Kevin has the right amout of skill and aggressiveness to become a Cup Champion.

I'm not trying to compare the two at all. I'm just simply showing that it's not always an easy thing to accomplish. The way I look at it, Jimmie Johnson has a 30 point lead over Harvick in the Chase. Johnson's going to be tough driver to beat.
 
Normally, at this point I would be saying that nobody is gonna be Jimmie Johnson, BUT I think this might be the year that someone takes the crown away, at least for a year anyway. I think Harvick has a good shot at doing this as anyone else. The only problem is Harvick is going to have to win at tracks that are not restrictor plate. Heck, as many would guess, I would love to see Gordon win it, but he is going to have to starting winning period!

Non the less, wins are what will get the championship. Johnson and Knaus have mastered the tracks that are in the chase, however, this year it seems they have put more of an emphasis on tracks that they have never won before. (ie Bristol, Sonoma, etc..) I have to wonder if the emphasis they have put ino this, might hinder them in the chase. I mean he has dominated at most of the Chase tracks when they go . (Anyone remember the four wins in a row in 07 that took the title away from Gordon..I DO!)
 
Kurt Busch will single handedly ensure Johnson does not win the title.:growl:

Remember, it's "have at it boys" this year. What better place and time to exercise that option, then when it counts. I predict an ugly chase......
 
I think if gets off to a good start keep knocking top 5s in the chase like he been doing he got nothing to worry about.I'm not worried at all this is kevin year to bring home the title and I say he do just that.
