Neat gadget. From another poster:

so far, I know that it costs thirty cents a day just to keep the coffee pot on three hours..It turns itself off after three hours unless I forget to turn it off before that...that's about nine bucks a month when it isn't necessary...

I'm gonna start turning it off for sure in the morning... 300 bucks a month for electricity and the rates are going UP!!!

Think I'll get one when they're back in stock, be interesting to see exactly what it costs to keep an appliance on when it's not needed, like his coffee pot. I tend to walk away and leave the computer on for hours.
 
New computers, particularly laptops, are easily set up to consume minimal power on idle. Using sleep and hibernation instead of shutting down means a faster start up and less waste ... if you've configured things correctly.
