Towards the end of last night's game, Kobe started to make the same move he's probably made thousands of times. But this time, his achilles appeared to just snap. An MRI is expected to confirm the diagnosis today. He said he knew what it was right way because he couldn't control his foot. Of course, in typical Kobe fashion, he stayed in the game long enough to take his free throws on one foot. Then he hobbled off the court.
I saw him being interviewed in the locker room after the game last night. He was standing with his back to a wall and his weight being supported by a pair of crutches. It was pretty poignant. He's certainly not my favorite player, or person for that matter, but he is an all-time great competitor and player. He just oozes intensity. It's always great to see an athlete that cares that much. It's what I enjoy the most about watching sports. I like Lebron, being from my hometown, but if he cared as much as Kobe does he would be almost unstoppable.
