What was that all about? They said on TV that Kurt had to pick his pit stall last at Kansas because he had too many warnings over the past few weeks. What rule and what warnings are they talking about? I don’t recall ever hearing anything like that before.

He lost pit selection under a NASCAR penalty for inspection failures.

"... NASCAR may issue warnings for minor infractions that occur during the pre-qualifying and pre-race inspection process. Once a team receives a fourth warning, the loss of pit stall selection is put into play. If the fourth warning is received prior to the pit selection process, it is enforced at that event. If the fourth warning comes after the pit stalls have been chosen, it will be enforced at the next scheduled race (or race in which that team participates).... "

Pretty much a weekly occurrence.

What they are trying to do , as usual , is bow to the wishes of the stupid fans and have standardized penalties with no 'judgement calls ' by officials which stupid fans might claim are biased . So there you have it , a relatively minor penalty for a relatively minor infraction . If they do it again , it'll be no ice cream for a week .
