Kurt Busch donates $1 million to Victory Junction Gang Camp
By JIM UTTER
The Charlotte Observer

CONCORD, N.C. - Nextel Cup driver Kurt Busch announced Friday he has donated $1 million to the Victory Junction Gang Camp through his charitable foundation.

The donation will go toward the construction of Kurt Busch's Sports Superdome, a 28,000 square-foot facility which will provide opportunities for indoor sports in a climate-controlled environment.

"Many people in the NASCAR family are already very familiar with the Victory Junction Gang Camp created by Pattie and Kyle Petty as an oasis of hope, love and excitement – a true miracle for needy children," said Busch.

"I feel very strongly about this charity and will be proud part of its worthwhile causes."

The 70-acre camp, located in Randleman, N.C., and founded by Kyle and Pattie Petty, is an independent, nonprofit camp for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses.

"Kurt and Pattie have launched this idea and this is one of the most phenomenal programs that we're getting ready to start at camp because of Kurt's generosity," Kyle Petty said.

I'm not a Kurt fan, but I am giving him the benefit of the doubt on this. Was that what Tony Stewart was doing when he donated his? I could care less what Kurt's or Stewart's reason's were. It's benefiting lots of kids.

true...

but does he even have a million dollars? I thought he gave it all to the pheonix police?

That's what really matters! :beerbang:

I saw the ceremony for this donation and was wondering how much of that money came from Penske or Miller to help him improve his popularity.

Either way it's a million bucks to a very worthy cause.

If you can improve his popularity then he will make back the $1M several times over with merchandise sales.

You sound like a boss I had a long time ago. He told me I had to sell my race car because he was NOT going to throw money away on such things. I looked at him and asked WTH he was talking I had never asked him to invest in my race car. He replied that I worked for him and got a pay check from him so "IF" I spent money on a race car, it was "His" money and he wouldn't allow it.

So with that line of thinking maybe you should add a couple names and say - Penski, Miller, Roush & Rubbermaid actually donated that money and Kurt's just trying to capitolize on it.

Sound Stupid? You bet it does!

Nice to see the character of many of the posters on these and other boards because I can only assume that people that would automatically accuse someone of such decietful tactics is because they feel it normal because it is the way "they" would act.

I've never been a Kurt Busch fan but $1,000,000 isn't chump change for anyone. Nice going Kurt :)
