Kurt Could Have A Ride

TRG Motorsports would be intersted in Busch: #51-Phoenix Racing, which finished 30th in the owner points this season with Landon Cassill as its primary driver, and #71-TRG Motorsports, which finished 36th in owner points, don't have a driver signed for 2012. Owned by James Finch, Phoenix has one Cup victory with Brad Keselowski at Talladega in 2009. A spokesman for Phoenix said the team was keeping its options open. TRG is interested in Busch, and a spokesman said owner Kevin Buckler hopes to meet with Busch.(Sports Illustrated)(12-8-2011)

Both teams were S&P's. If there isn't a sponsor for 4th place, drama free champion Matt Kenseth, I don't know where there would be sponsorship for him. That is unless Dr Phil or Celebrity Rehab decides to.

Don't sell James Finch short . This sport is all about TV time .Sponsors want to know that they will get the most TV bang for their buck .Landon Cassell v/s Kurt (Wild Thing) Busch ? I bet a lot of sponsors would go for Kurt , if James could put that deal together . It sure would be interesting to watch from a fan prospective. Can't wait for Daytona .

James Finch, the owner of Phoenix Racing, said he had a deal with Ragan to drive the No. 51 Chevrolet next season subject "to him getting a better deal.''

Finch told ESPN.com on Friday that Ragan contacted him on Thursday to say he met with Roger Penske in Detroit and planned to meet next week with Shell Pennzoil officials.

Wouldn't it be a kick in the ass if Finch went out and hired Kurt, and Penske went with someone other than Ragan?

That's a great read .Finch is in the driver's seat ..so to speak. He's not ruling out anybody .What he needs to do is talk with some sponsors . Hendrick engines are not too shabby.I think that Kurt could do a lot to rehabilitate himself in a very short period of time . If he goes drag racing , he will be forgotten very quickly.

I meant No Disrespect to Phoenix Racing or TRG I was only commenting on Kurt Busch.

I know that . I just meant the guy could put together quite an interesting entry .And ..it would draw a huge amount of attention.

finch said he was in no hurry to hire someone. if penske hires someone else maybe ragan goes back to finch?

Sure. I'm just trying to make sense of a contract that syas "I'll drive for you, unless something better comes along".

If Rubberhead were to land a CUP ride with anybody, it would be a huge story - for the first few weeks of the season at least...

Only quality ride he's going to get is on the horsey outside the door of WalMart.:beerbang:

The 71 and 51 weren't exactly start and parks but they were probably two of the slowest cars on the track. If Kurt had anger problems with the equipment that Penske provided wait till he has to drive one of these clunkers.

But wouldn't it be cool if he could put a few top 10 runs in one of them?

Someone tweeted Jeff Gluck that they saw Kurt and RC together at Childress Vineyards.

maybe rc needs someone to work the vineyards. could have good fringe benefits. why would chidress hire him? harvick, the 2 dillon boys and menard are pretty much locked in for the future. busch would need to bring a sponsor (better than menard's) to be considered imo.

51 was hardly a start and park finishing 30th in points. They were slightly competitive, I know atleast a half dozen or more races running in the top 20.
They may have not finished there, but Finch has never been a start and park owner.

You are right on the money .I would love to see what this union could do .It would be neat to see the results of a poll on how many top 5's , top 10's, top 20's they could put together before they split .

NO!!! Not the 43!!!

I know, it just makes one sick to think of the biggest ass in the sport is going to drive the legendary 43. The exact opposite of Kurt is Richard Petty.

Not to mention, Greg Irwin must be thrilled :owquitit:

Business makes strange bedfellows ? A last ditch effort to salvage a major sponsor ? Maybe keep the doors open ?
