Kurt Busch seeking continuance in his trial
Lawyers for Kurt Busch have asked for a continuance in his pretrial hearing originally set for Jan. 27 at the Agua Fria Justice Court in Tolleson Arizona. His lawyers have 30 days to reschedule his hearing.

Busch was issued a misdemeanor citation for reckless driving in November after doing 60 mph in a 45 mph zone and running a stop sign, police say.

JMO, but why not just get it OVER with!

The longer the delay the more fuzzy the memories and longer time attorneys have to work on the "right" people. The longer this drags out the less serious it becomes, except to the officers involved in the arrest. This more than a motor vehicle violation as it it was an instant political issue involving a celebrity with high profile and serious money behind the scenes.

Just one more way the American legal system works it is used this way by many so the strategy on Kurt's behalf is not unusual.

Do not be surprised to see this go away, quietly or at least as quietly as possible.

Just makes it seem he is more guilty if he doesn't want it to resolve quickly.

I don't believe there is any question of his guilt or innocence of the charges actually filed against him. The point Whizzer was trying to make was that he is guilty and will recieve punishment, just a matter of how severe. This is a legal game all lawyers play, I'll bet it's not being done at Kurts insistance.

You've hit it, Whiz. By the time this actually gets settled, it will have slipped from public memory.
Our legal system isn't supposed to be based on public memory, or if I think I know what you are talking about TRL, the sentiment of the people. However, I'm sure that while some of the memory of those involved will be a bit fuzzier, those people will probably have taken notes on the entire case.

I'm not even going to go close to condoning what Busch did on this matter, but our legal system is all that we've got. Should we just shuck it and go head long into legal matters and go with our gut? I know that most of us feel that way, but we just can't do it that way.

I've read articles and saw other referrences on how to beat the system when it comes to local traffic laws. Most of us could probably get away with speeding and even worse offences if we only knew what to do. Doesn't take a lot of money, just a good lawyer. A continuance might also be good for the prosecution so that they can also get things in order. However, I'm pretty sure that the state of Arizona really wants this to come to an end and the sooner the better.
