Kyle Busch, the 18-year-old younger brother of Winston Cup star Kurt Busch, will attempt to make his Cup debut in the Nov. 16 Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Busch, who has driven a combination schedule of Automobile Racing Club of America and NASCAR Busch Series races for Hendrick Motorsports this season, will drive Hendrick's No. 60 Chevrolet, a research and development team.
"This is an excellent way for Kyle to gain some additional experience," Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick said. "Our goal is for him to spend as much time behind the wheel as possible before next season and this is a great way to accomplish that."
If he makes the field, Busch, who turned 18 on May 2, will become one of the youngest drivers to start a Winston Cup race in NASCAR's modern (post-1972) era.
"It's important for me to spend more time in the seat," Busch said. "This is an opportunity to make some laps with the best drivers in the world and build toward the 2004 Busch Series season.
"It will be, first and foremost, a learning experience."
Busch has a pair of runner-up finishes and five top-10 starts in six Busch Series races this season. He will make his final series start of the year Saturday at North Carolina Speedway in Rockingham, N.C.
He will join the Busch circuit full-time next season in the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolets.
After joining Hendrick in February, Busch also competed in seven ARCA races, earning two two victories and two poles.
